Kansas State's Nicole Ohlde has been named one of four nominees for the 2002-03 Basketball Honda Award. Ohlde, along with Alana Beard of Duke, Diana Taurasi of Connecticut and LaToya Thomas of Mississippi State, have been selected as nominees for the prestigious award.

To be truthful, I cannot see her winning in that field, for all the reasons we go over constantly. Even so, it is a great honor in my estimation. I also see that Honda will donate $1,000 to Women's Athletics at KSU. Not a heck of a lot in this day and age, but something.

I don't suppose it would help her chances if I told them she drives a Ford Taurus. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif

Way to go Nicole! Its nice to see a fine young lady like her get the recognition she has.

I suppose this means she no longer has a shot at the "Most Underated" trophy. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif

Kristen Rethman was sure in the running for that trophy last year. It was nice to see her around the team as a grad assistant this year.

Ohlde richly deserves this recognition. Taurisi will probably win and probably deserves to win. But it's great to see a "western" player in this group, it's been a while.
