I bet some of these seniors would be surprised at some of the fans they have.
Players, even if you were a 'role or bench player' on a losing team, someone on this board saw your effort and appreciated you. Someone noticed that you cheered the loudest or that you made the Big 12 commissioners honor role, or that you stayed with your team for 4 or more years, putting in the same practice hours as the starters even though you rarely played in a game.

(OU) Scott, Kate (OU) Simon, Stephanie (OU)
These two have been a most amazing story...both came in as freshmen walk-ons and remained walk-on's through their sophomore years.....Coale awarded them both scholarships their junior and senior year. Though they never saw significant playing time, they were, nevertheless, ever bit as big a player as the recruited gals. If either of their parents missed a game, it was very rare. I actually think Simon could have been a "playa" had she not suffered the knee injuries she did.

Due to a pre-season knee surgery, Jamie Nagle did not see any playing time this year. In the past, Jamie has seen some time when Tech was in clover and the fans were always ready and eager for her to come in.
She's been a big part of practice all four years for Tech and thanks to her, Kayla Petree and our 3 male practice players, Tech has had a great practice squad.
We've seen Jamie emerge from an incredibly shy child with very little self confidence to a young woman who can speak well in front of crowd, plans to go grad school. Shecredits Coach Sharp and the program for helping her gain self confidence and mature. We'll miss her a great deal.
Pierson...has truly won me over this year with her assists and rebounding and fierce spirit. She stuck in there and we wish her well in the WNBA.

DblT81 you can probably take Margaret Richards off that list, she will most likely be back next season. But you can put on Greichaly Cepero.
Cepero is not expected to be back to next years team because is she pursuing a spot on the United States Olympic Volleyball squad.
Margaret Richards came to Nebraska as a Prop 48, thus having to sit out her freshman season and start her career here at Nebraska as a sophomore the following year. There is a stipulation though. If she graduates by August of 2003 she will be granted another year of eligibility. As of right now she is on track to graduate this August. So expect to see her again next year in Husker red.

Linda Lappe was my all time favorite at CU. Although she was never able to regain her health following her kneecap injury incurred early in her sophomore season she was a pleasure to watch.
Her freshman season she started at point guard to begin the season. Later in the season she would play both the '2' guard and forward. That season she led the team in scoring and assists.
This season, despite not being as healthy as she was her freshman season she played a key role on the team. Early in the season she would play in the backcourt to help stabilize the team. In the NCAA tourney she played an instrumental role in getting the Buffs to the Sweet 16. In the Buffs' game with the UNC she became very assertive in the second half with her hard drives to the basket.
Did I mention that she was a frequent member of Big 12 academic teams?

True story carolann. Its not just the stars but often the stars earn their cheers through very hard work too. Not many have the gifts to compete at this level on talent alone. On the other hand some players stand out not only for their play but for reasons beyond their play. For KSU one of those players is Kimmery Newsom. She doesn't get to see a lot of court time but the fans know what a fine young lady she is and see her effort. For that reason she always gets a cheer when she comes into a game and there are few groans louder than when she passes up and open shot or misses one. We all want so very much for things to go right for her. I am glad Coach Patterson and the staff recruited her and I am even more glad she decided to come to Kansas State. Her "character" goes way beyond basketball.
Some favorite recent "enemy" players of mine. Linda Lappe CU, Gracialy Ceparo NU, I have a soft spot for two sport kids who really have no reason to play but love of the game, Mary Fox ISU, Tai Dillard UT, Natilie Ritchie, TTU, Kerensa Barr MU, Shelby Hutchens OSU, 4.0 in life and basketball. And many more.
There are many others who have given us a lot of fun while deveoping themselves for life. And yes I know not all of the players I mentioned are seniors. We get to enjoy a lot of players for another year. And I also get to remember players like Angie Welle and Lanisha Caufield. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif Some memories will fade but a lot of fond memories will remain. GO BIG 12 WBB Players!!!!!!!!!! May God bless you all!
