View Full Version : GW/Nova game
George Washington is doing a good job of taking Villanova out of their comfort zone, using a lot of zone press looks.
Unfortunately, GW is getting hurt by poor shooting. They've had good looks, they just aren't finding the net very often.
The crowd at LNC looks very small. Attendance for this subregional certainly is a big fall-off from last year.
GW playing 5 on 1 now...
Oha against the entire Villanova team.
60-46 Nova.
In the inexplicable action of the moment, GW double-teams a Villanova player with 43 seconds left, trailing by 13.
Nova calls time out.

I went to this game because I wanted to help OU have at least some crowd there, and it is an NCAA game, after all. Was pleasantly suprised to see just about all of the regular crowd that sits around me there.
Our consensus was that we really must have played just absolutely terrible to have lost to either of these teams. George Washington lost the game due to one of the worst coaching decisions I have ever seen. You're down 4 to a team that has no inside game whatsoever, but a bunch of good long range shooters - so what defense is called for here. What, a zone you say? Well, 5 or 6 three pointers later they went back to a man, but it was far too late by then.
Unless they play as bad as OU did, Colorado has a cakewalk back to the elite eight. And they know what Nova is about, so there should be no surprises. They don't need it, but here's my advise anyway:
Tara, whatever happens don't foul. If they happen to get inside with the ball, just stand there like a statue. Actually, for Nova's inside game that should be enough. Foul trouble is the only thing I see that could prevent Tara from having a 40 point night. Throw it into the post every time - Nova has no answer for the Bjorkland we are seeing now.
Guards, stay with your perimeter assignments, switch every screen and don't ever double down. All they want to do is throw the ball back out to the three point shooters anyway.
If we were playing post-season Hoopla, Bjorkland would be on everyone's list for this game!
