Last year the conference went for a million fans and came up a little short. I haven't seen the promotion this year, but, with KSU and BU coming on strong to help ISU and TT and with some growth in other towns, this could be the year.

Yep, good point. And attendance at Oklahoma continues to rise. Official attendance at the last home game with Oklahoma State was 8402, although talking with several others they felt it was closer to 10,000.

K-State will be helping out in the attendance column this year; the game with Nebraska tonight was sold out with around 13,500 fans at the game... wish i could have been there.

Any official figures out yet for the total so far? I know Tech has raised their attendance after dropping off a little last year. In their third season at the United Spirit Arena, Tech is averaging 13,446 a game this season up from 12,660 last year and 12,741 in 1999-2000. They are almost up there with Tenn. If only we could get a little more to beat them out....

Hate to see my team bringing up the rear, here, but it's been uncommon to have much more than 1000 in Hearnes so far this year. The exception was a thriller vs. Southwest Missouri with close to 5000 (about a quarter of them Bears fans)
Now that conference season's here, and the students will be back on campus soon, here's hoping that things pick up in Columbia.
Oklahoma State's another school needing a shot in the arm. I suspect that there may be a coaching change there soon (which is too bad cause Dick's a good guy and has been a Cowgirl coach for a long time) and hopefully they'll get things picked up soon.
Best darn conference in the land!

Good to see another KSU fan here - snizave. OSU attendance seems to have been going down ever since the Coffey (sp?) era. OSU hasn't been ranked in quite some time. Lots of people have been calling for Halterman's job in Oklahoma. Some rumors have for assistant Rippitoe-Blair (sp?) coming back to take over. She is currently the head coach at UTSA.
If that happened the big question would be if Phylesha Whaley would come with her? I just can't imagine Whaley in orange. Would break a lot of Sooner hearts!

welcome, daddo.........I think you are our virgin Missouri fan...
so that leaves Oklahoma State and Texas A & M without representation.

wow, we were discussing Oklahoma State on the bus tonite and I mentioned that I would like to have seen Rippitoe-Blair take over the program, perhaps that's not a dead issue. Hmmmmm, don't know about Whaley helping the orange girls, though, that would be really hard.
A fan mentioned that Greg Swaim had mentioned Bo Overton for the OSU job..........yuk, please say it ain't so.
