I bet helping the conference isn't high on Baylor's list of priorities but I'd like to see the conference teams make a statement by doing well in both tournaments.

Baylor wins by 2. What a game. I thought Iheard them say attendence was 3309. Announcers said Baylor will host next round also.

I was watching on gametracker, while listening to the Iowa/SLU game, and though Baylor led most of the way, UNI kept it close, and even had the lead in the closing minutes. Their bench scored ZERO.

By the way, Iowa won easily 93-64. SLU was within 9 in the second half, but a gigantic run put Iowa over the top.

Ugly!! Ugly!! Ugly!! Defense won this one because the offense is still on spring break. Baylor actually had four steals before we scored a single point. Bears shot 29% for the game and were beaten on the boards. Ebony Jackson was 1 for 12, but the one she made was a driving layup with 2.5 seconds left to seal it.

I will be a happy man if we never have to play a MVC team ever again. Those hard-working, well coached, fundamentally sound Midwestern teams pretty much have our number.

Crowd was slightly smaller than average, but very loud and energetic, and it was announced that Baylor will host Round 2 Sunday against either Arizona State or Hawaii.

UGLY is the only way to describe this game.

Sophia Young racked up her 15th double double for the season.
Amy Swisher for Northern Iowa is a hoss! Wow! Baylor had better get their shooting percentage up. 29% stinks.

I know what you are talking about. That is how Iowa State lost a lot of games this year. Missouri Valley is a good conference.

Tell that to the selection committee. The MVC got NO bids beyond the automatic by SMS. At least three other teams were good enough to make the cut but didn't. I am not saying all should have been selected, but they certainly deserved more than they got.

Well, I was going to agree with you......then I went and looked at the RPI's and the SOS....not good. I was sure I was going to find a team that deserved it more than Miami (FL); but I didn't.

Great win for Baylor....keep on a movin', Kim. I'm kind of surprised that Hawaii didn't put in a bid to host....who wouldn't have wanted to go to Hawaii? http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

Big XII teams continue to win in post season play, but nobody wants to make it easy. Lady Bears walk away with a win. It certainly wasn't pretty. Thank goodness Stephanie Blackmon came to play because no one else in Green & Gold played inspired ball. Good thing this game was at home.

Amy Swisher of NIU is an offensive machine. She has a beautiful jump shot. Credit to the ladies from Northern Iowa University for making us Bear fans sweat. They gave us more than we wanted. Outcome wasn't assured until the final buzzer sounded.

Lady Bears will have to step it up in order to continue play in the WNIT. At least we live to play another day.

Okay Lady Buffs, Red Raiders, Sooners, Longhorns, and Wildcats...lets keep things rolling for the Big XII.

The Northern Iowa team that just pushed Baylor to the edge is the same one that was dismantled in a 29-point loss to Indiana State last week in the MVC tournament. Indiana State, in turn, was beaten by Southwest Missouri State -- the team that faces Texas Tech in the first round of the NCAA.

Amy Swisher, by the way, was named to the MVC All-Tournament Team, and was also First Team All-Conference. Her 36 points was the key to victory in the quarterfinal game against Bradley. She is a diabetic and when not on the court she wears an insulin pump device to regulate her blood sugar levels. Occasionally she is forced to come off the court during games when her blood sugar goes out of whack. When it was announced that she had been named to the All-Tournament Team, she got a rousing ovation from the SMS, Indiana State, and Drake fans.

P.S. On the men's side, I notice that the Big 12 men weren't so impressive last night either. Only OU won decisively. KU (a 2 seed who some said should have been a 1) and MU squeaked by.

SIU has a good team as the Tech men saw. These lower seeds have zero to lose and everything to gain. They are often looser and more intense and passionate...Utah St gave KU all they wanted and more. KU has shown their vulnerbility this year. The Texas will cruise today.

Glad to see Baylor, Mizzou and Creigton, Arizona State, Colorado St. and Wyoming moving on. The other team to watch out for is Auburn (I don't happen to like their coach) but that team led Tennessee at half time, upset a few others and could win the whole thing.
