Colorado (5-1) will travel to Ft. Collins to face Colorado State (4-0) on Wednesday night at 7 PM MST. This will be the 32nd meeting between the two teams with CU holding a 24-8 lead in the series. However, CSU was won the last two games since the series was renewed in 2000. Their victories were 71-67 in 2000 (Ft. Collins) and 72-70 last season in Boulder. This season's meeting will mark the first time the teams have played with both ranked.
The teams enter the game featuring contrasting styles of play on the offensive end. CSU often has four and sometimes five players on the court capable of hitting treys. This allows them to spread the court and get open drives to the basket.
CU, with the triangle offense, looks to work the ball into the post, forcing their opponents to make decisions about whether or not to double team. If they do they perimeter opens up. If not the posts take the ball to the basket.
CSU is led in scoring to date by junior guard Elizabeth English and junior forward Ashley Augspurger each averaging 13.8 PPG. Their leading rebounder is Shannon Strecker at 7.5 PPG.
Colorado is led in scoring and rebounding by sophomore center Tera Bjorklund at 17.2 PPG and 7.3 RPG.
