From the Fox announcing crew...

"The Big 12 is the only conference with every team in the RPI top 100."

OK, right. Except for 156 Kansas, 155 A&M, 159 OSU, and 182 Nebraska. Why would she make such a stupid statement?

That was one of many stupid statements tonight from the Fox crew. Did you hear this: "Madden didn't score at Colorado, she's been in double figures the last 3 games." Huh? Oh well.

Whatever her name is, she repeated the "everyone in the top 100" statement in the closing remarks.

I don't know if she's just stupid, or if it is deliberate misinformation in order to pad their ratings for the upcoming tournament.

Actually, there aren't any conferences with every team in the top 100, so she couldn't have mistaken the Big 12 for another conference.

Normally I really like Debbie Antonelli. I don't know what was up with those mistakes.

What I REALLY don't like about FSN is their camera direction. They WAY overdo closeups, almost to the point of nausea all the while missing the action. Come on directors! This is not football. There is a game on. Don't show me endless closeups of players faces while ignoring the development of the next play.

I NEVER care for Debbie Antonelli's work. She is one who barrels through her "analyzing" and "stories" no matter what is going on in the game. Don't think she outdoes Nancy Lieberman though. She always sounds as though she is watching an entirely different game, or at least you'd think so from what she is talking about.

About those closeups, I like them at times, but they usually miss the ideal times. When a player is shooting a free throw is a great time for a closeup, but we usually miss those for promos of 54321 on Fox, or whatever is the current push on ESPN. That is one of the things that irk me. Just don't campaign to take off ALL the closeups. It's nice to see what the players really look like, not just from so far away you can't see their features.

I like the "other woman" who does a lot of Fox Big XII...
Brenda, all I can up with on the last name is Landaler or something like that....or maybe it's Van something.

Whatever their faults may be at times, I think we should all be very grateful that Bill Land, Debbie Antonelli, and Brenda Van Lengen are such knowledgeable and enthusiastic commentators about Big 12 Women's Basketball. They really appreciate the Big 12 and they know a great deal about the players and the coaches.

They rarely miss an opportunity to point out noteworthy performances or stats, or just to offer appropriate compliments for a job well done. There is a HUGE contrast between their expertise and genuine enthusiasm in comparison to other commentators on the major networks when Big 12 women's games are being covered. In those other cases, you feel lucky if they manage to get the names of the players right on a consistent basis.
