Who all is planning on going to Dallas for the tournament and have you got tickets yet? I was lucky to get a couple of tickets on row B in section 101. According to the seating chart on the Reunion Arena website, they should be very good. I am checking around for a small coffee shop where we can meet on Thursday afternoon if all goes as planned. The Hyatt is adjacent to the arena. I will touch base with Mechelle Voepel again to check her schedule. Dallas would be the best place for everyone to collect on any recent wagers. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif
I will be there!

Thanks, zo.....I'll be there. Haven't gotten my tickets yet, but ordered through OU. I'm planning on being there Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and leaving Friday morning....
Here's a little coffee shop inside the Hyatt, though not sure if it's a "sit-down" place...called the "Coffee's Post", perhaps, our Dallas friends can enlighten us?

Swok, I spoke with someone at the hotel and she suggested that we meet at the Centennial Cafe. It is located on the 2nd floor of the Hyatt and has plenty of seating. The Coffee Post only has a few tables for two or three people with additional seating adjacent in the lobby. I think the Centennial Cafe sounds best. Very casual. No reservations required. We should get a head count however. Thursday afternoon should be a relatively slow time for the cafe.

Hey Zo, count me in! Bought my tickets through CU but haven't received them yet, have no idea what section I'll be in. Hopefully I won't need an oxygen tank and a telescope. Did you get your tickets from Baylor or from Ticketmaster?

Here is a blurb about the restaurants/bars at the Hyatt:
Centennial Cafe, a southwestern restaurant is located in the hotel's atrium and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Monduel's is the hotel's atrium bar. Parrino's Oven serves Northern Italian dishes including signature pizzas from a wood-burning oven. Antares is the revolving restaurant atop Reunion Tower. Antares features New American cuisine and offers incredible views of the city for lunch, dinner and Sunday Brunch. The Dome is the bar atop Reunion Tower. Coffee's Post is a specialty coffee store open daily and serves coffee products and light fare including sandwiches, salads, pastries, fruits and other snacks.

For those who don't have tickets, and were planning on buying the unused ones from the first round losers who are going home early, be careful. Dallas has been known to be very strict on its scalping laws, even for those selling below face value. I can't say for sure there will be a problem, but I know that many of the visitors to the Texas/OU game last fall got ticketed. If I remember correctly, many of the out-of-towners requested the fine be dropped since they were unaware of the law, but the DA had refused as of the last word I had.
I hope things have changed some, but if not be careful. Any on-premises selling is considered scalping.

MC, I bought my tickets through Baylor and I received them in the mail this past weekend. I really don't think Baylor has sold that many tickets. It is really sad since we are closest to Dallas. Hopefully folks will show up.

It depends upon Mechelle Voepel's schedule. The first game on Thursday is at 6:00. I was thinking about 4:00 p.m. What do ya'll think?
Y'all do me a favor. Tell Mechelle that I am a big fan of her body of work, and I'm dying a thousand deaths that I'm not able to attend and be there with you guys.
I hope she'll forgive a big fan.

My flight leaves Yemen 08 March, arriving in Texas the following day. I'm very much looking forward to both tournaments. Hope to make the Hoopscoop gathering as well, assuming no conflict with BU men's game.
Recently received tickets which were ordered through Baylor Athletic Department. They're in section 101.

Oh, we'll take care of them, all right. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif

Here is the announcement concerning ticket selling in Dallas:
"As most insiders know, the trading and reselling of tournament tickets has become a fact of life. Like most metropolitan areas, the City of Dallas prohibits public vending on city property, which includes the area around American Airlines Center and all of Reunion Arena.
In fact the city codes states, "A person shall not occupy public property in the city for purpose of selling, distributing or offering for sale services or goods, including, but not limited to food, drinks, flowers, plants, tickets or souvenirs."
But we all want tickets! To accommodate fans, the Dallas Host Committee has made arrangements with the Dallas Police Department and the City Attorney's Office for VictoryFest to be the Official Ticket Swapping location for the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's and Women's Tournaments. The City has granted a special permit providing VictoryFest this jurisdiction.
In fact, special announcements will be made at all tournament games encouraging people with tickets or those looking for tickets to go to VictoryFest. Hopefully, by putting buyers and sellers together, more fans will have the chance to enjoy the excitement of the Big 12!"
VictoryFest will be located in the West End.
I ordered tickets through OU - but have not received them yet

Thanks for the info, Soonerborn. i can't make it to many of the games, so i passed on buying a tournament pass, but I sure wasn't going to risk a $500 fine to buy one. It looks like they worked out a great deal.

You're welcome - I usually end up with some extra tickets for the men's Thursday games and it was always a hassle trying to sell them outside of Kemper - especially in the cold blowing wind and rain. Hopefully, this system will work out better.

Mrs. nativetechsan and myself have had our tickets since early January. We've attended the previous four in Kansas City. Last year in KC we made an extra special effort to encourage those fans from the North to enjoy some real Texas hospitality in Dallas. RAIDER..........POWER!

I just checked the post mark on the envelope from TicketMaster. The tickets were mailed Dec 23, 2002. We are in Section 108, Row EE, which are what they call the "risers". We used to attend the SWC Tournament when the Women's Finals were at Reunion, and if I remember correctly these are pretty good seats.

Hey, fellow wbb junkies. If you are going to be in Dallas for the tournament and are staying at a hotel/motel some distance from the arena, you may want to check out the park and ride services of Dart,(a train-bus combo) which will take right down to the Reunion area without having to worry about finding a parking place in downtown Dallas and paying exorbitant parking fees. There are daily passes at a very reasonable ($1 or $2) prices which should save you a lot of hassle.
The url for info is www.dart.org/riding.asp?zeon=maplrt (http://www.dart.org/riding.asp?zeon=maplrt)

elfdenmom......glad you mentioned that because our hotel, though only 3 1/2 miles from Reunion is on the train route and the daily unlimited pass is $2.50/day.
Does anyone know the parking situation around the arena? And how much it costs, how difficult it might be? I'm planning on making full use of the Dart, of course, I'm one of these folks that for some reason LOVES riding the city buses and trains when in a different city http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif But some of the folks I'm traveling with may decide they would rather drive down to the arena.
