View Full Version : Website input is welcome

Since we are smack-dab in the middle of off-season, I would like to ask for any input on the website as a whole. If you have any thoughts for what you would like to see added or removed from the website, what are the strengths and weaknesses, or whatever you would like to chime in about - is welcome. Or if everyone just likes it the way it is - that's good to know as well.

I ask for a couple of reasons, such as, I like to remind everyone that HoopScoop.net is a psuedo-democracy because there are aspects of this site that are run by everyone that participates. I also ask because Vbulletin, the software which powers the forums, has moved on to a new version (version 4) that represents a huge step forward in their development. They now offer a CMS (Content Management System) style environment that allows you to wrap content around the forums which is what I've tried to due using some hacks. These hacks have allowed me to create the sidebars on the left-hand side that have links and Big 12 news items etc. The new version allows for blogs and several other things.

Seems to me most people have not nor will not take advantage of such items. But it does look like I will need to purchase a new license so I can keep receiving security updates to avoid issues we had this past week.

Any and all comments are welcome. Thanks!

I love Hoopscoop just as it is and then you add something and I love it just it is now and then you add something and I love the new change. So I have no real suggestions just a question. Would donations be helpful to pay for the new license? If so I would like to help and feel like I owe it because of all the pleasure I get from it.

The new license will cost $285. No one needs to feel obligated to support the site monetarily.

If you would like to help defray costs, you can send it to:

Chris: I'd like to use PayPal - is that still possible?

Lots of forums have a "Back To Top" button at the bottom of the screen. When going through multiple posts, it's handy to help get back to the forum page.

Or, like it the top where you've got HoopScoop Forums > HoopScoop Announcements - Questions
Website input is welcome

If those links could also be at the bottom, it would rock. (Actually much better than a Back To Top Button because I can navigate to whereever I wish without having to go back to the top to do that.)

KSU RSS feeds seem to be missing this year. I am clueless about how to help.

I hope your snail mail addy in this thread is still valid. A little financial support is on the way. I do really thank you for all you do to support this site. Thanks also to your family for supporting you and your efforts. :)
