View Full Version : She's Baaaack! or not? (Koehn)
Coach Patterson says Laurie Koehn's condition is improving. She will evaluate her condition up to game time but its possible she may play tonight. Her comments are by far the most positive ones on the subject from Coach P. in quite a while.

Has anyone ever said what her condition is? I know it was no disclosed early on, but I'm not sure that I really know anything except an ankle issue.
I'm not sure if athlete injury information at Kansas State is handled by KSU or NSA (National Security Agency) but no, they have never said anything specific. K-State said ankle or at least implied that for a while but it was obvious that her ankle was not wrapped as you would expect from a normal ankle injury. Most of us think its a foot injury. Michelle Voepel just calls it an "ankle/foot" injury.
The families don't even share much info and that includes the Ohlde & Koehn families. They train them well at Kansas State.

I saw the Wildcats practice earlier this year and Nicole sat out most of the practice. I saw her later and ask if she was OK and all she would say was "what do you mean?" I think Deb Patterson takes notes from Bill Snyder.

Koehn Practicing
The only one of the four Kansas State women's reserves in uniform who didn't get up off the bench Saturday was guard Laurie Koehn. The 5-foot-8 sophomore missed her seventh straight game and 10th overall with a lingering injury to her right ankle/foot.
But Kansas State coach Deb Patterson said Koehn is participating in some aspects of practice, and that's a good sign her return could be looming, perhaps as early as Wednesday's meeting with Kansas at Bramlage Coliseum.
"She is progressing in her activities at practice and we'll continue to watch her response to that, but I think that's a new milestone in the Laurie Koehn updates." Patterson said.
It was thought Koehn would make her return two games ago at Missouri. She did some light shooting before that outing, and also provided an impressive free throw shooting clinic. Koehn hit 287 of 288 attempts, including 238 in a row. "Can you belive she missed that one?" Patterson chuckled

The way it's been going for CU against Top 10 teams this year, I am sure Ms. Koehn will make her comeback against CU in Boulder this Saturday, and bomb in 10 or more threes.
Seriously though, I hope she comes back soon and is completely healed. She is such an awesome player!
There has been another "Elvis sighting"! Laurie Koehn participated in three offensive plays in live practice Tuesday. She moved well in the offense and swished two straight three point shots. Coach Patterson said she'd seen enough and promptly sat her back down. Coach P says the important thing is having her ready and available for the NCAA Tourney. Word is she may play tonight but it will be a game time decision.
GO WILDCATS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sherri Coale was talking about a recruit she went and saw a couple of weeks ago. The girl had tweaked her knee and was not going to play; Sherri was talking to the girls father, the assistant coach during half time....Sherri told him, "put her out there and see what happens". Near the end of the 3rd quarter, the team was down by 18 points and they put her in the game.......
the other team completely went flat, the other 4 team-mates played spectacular........and they won by 6.
That's court presence........and perhaps a little psychological warfare http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif
