Saturday, Feb. 22
*Baylor at Kansas, 2 p.m.

*Iowa State at Oklahoma [FSN], 3 p.m.
*Texas A&M at Kansas State, TBA
*Nebraska at Texas, 1 p.m.
*Texas Tech at Oklahoma State, 7 p.m.
I think FSN left open the 1 pm spot for a Big XII TV game, though I may be mistaken.....so one of these games might get picked up and televised....my vote would be for the MU/CU game.

BAYLOR - John Henry, please go with Kansas on this one. Much scientific research says you can't get the Baylor pick right.
COLORADO - Buffs look to rebound after train wreck down in Austin.
OKLAHOMA - The better of these two mid-level teams
KANSAS STATE - 13,000+ won't let the Wildcats stumble here
TEXAS - winning by as much as the Horns want
TEXAS TECH - find a way to stop Skibbe and you find the key to winning this game. Should be a physical game, which seems to present Tech with a few problems. Definitely not a gimme.

Baylor ought to handle Kansas...but, then again, Baylor should have handled OSU, right? I'll the the Lady Bears.
Colorado over Missouri in Boulder. I think on a neutral floor this is one you'd have to think about, but being in Boulder gives the Buffs an edge.
OU over ISU. See above, but replace Boulder with Norman and Buffs with Sooners.
Is the A&M/K-State game TBA so Aggies won't start committing suicide during the game...maybe if they don't know when it is on, they'll have time to find something to live for before they get the final score. K-State in a blow out.
Texas in a blow out over Nebraska. No explanation needed.
Unfortunately, I think I have to pick Tech over my 'Girls. But this time it'll be within 50 points (really going out on a limb there). Actually I'll say Tech by eight.

Baylor at Kansas - This one could definitely be interesting, though I think Baylor comes home a winner.
Missouri at Colorado - here we go with this thin air thing Colorado has going on at home. But I think it's possibly one of the better games of the afternoon.
Texas A&M at Kansas State - KSU needs a breather, gets a breather. TAMU might beat some folks at home, but not KSU anytime, anywhere....not this year anyway.
Nebraska at Texas -- ouch, ouch, ouch....bad enough that they are playing at the Drum and not in the cornfields.
Texas Tech at Oklahoma State --- hmmmmm, I really think Marsha being on the verge of that 500 number the last 2 games has affected the way the Texas Tech team has come out of the gates...not today, milestone passed, back to business.
Iowa State at Oklahoma -- ahhhhhh, it's finally here, the chance for the Sherri Starship to go to places it's never been before, to do things no Sherri Sooner has ever done before....
and Sherri and the Sooners accomplish yet another feat not yet accomplished........ http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/biggrin.gif beat Iowa State.

BU @ KU - "what comes around goes around" - Kansas
MU @ CU - CU later Tigers
ISU @ OU - Now is the time for all good Sooners to get out and support your team - OU
A&M @ KSU - KSU by a Manhattan mile
NU @ UT - do they really have to do this? - Orange Crush
TT @ OSU - not enough Skibbes to go around - Marsha gets 501

BU / KU : By my count, i'm 0-4 on my last 4 Baylor games, so perhaps I should just layoff picking anymore of their games...
Okay Baylor by 4. They need this one and I mean bad.
(Kansas can now thank me for giving them their 4th conference win...)If the Bears lose this one, i'm picking them to win next Wed. night http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif
MU / CU : Here's a survival game if there ever was one. CU looked bad last night, but I hear they're much better at home...what the hell - CU by 3.
ISU / OU: Damn, another tough one...i'll take OU by 7, as they seem to be picking up steam again and they're back at home...
A&M / KSU: KSU by 20. No Comment.
NU / UT: TEXAS by 20+ - the train kept a' rollin'...
TECH / OSU: Tech by 10 -(close until fouling time in the last few minutes). I SO want this to be Tech's armageddon, but the Cowgirls don't have THAT much moxie...hope they scare the daylights out of the LRs the way they did us, at least...
I would vote for the CU/MU game on TV as well, swok. Any chance the Tech/OSU game gets on the tube somewhere?

Any chance the Tech/OSU game gets on the tube somewhere?
I think that's doubtful, unless Texas Tech gets a local broadcast. Every once in a great while I see an OSU game on local broadcast here....but, I don't think I've seen one since back before Thanksgiving.

OSU has only been on TV twice -- as Tech (when they lost by 50) and locally for Bedlam.
The next Bedlam will also be on FSN. I doubt any of their other games get picked up.

"But Hey, stranger things have happened than this.
I wish it would Jimi. I've tried everything a fan can do. I'd love to see those kids break out of this shooting slump, ANYTHING!
We're pretty bad, but these kid really deserve better than this. They've worked hard. They've become a team. They've learned what it takes. All the bad things that last year was can't be said about these kids.
I just hope they keep their heads up through these last five games. If we can win one of them we avoid a 20-loss season.

Baylor at Kansas - Baylor
Missouri at Colorado - Colorado
Iowa State at Oklahoma - Oklahoma
Texas A&M at Kansas State - Kansas St
Nebraska at Texas - Texas
Texas Tech at Oklahoma State - Texas Tech
Tough choices. Kansas St, Texas, and Texas Tech look like easy picks. I think Baylor really SHOULD win. The final 2 games are interesting match-ups, and I won't be surprised if my picks are wrong.

My, how time flies!
----------------------------
Nebraska at Texas
Hey Chipper, I finally get to see your team play in a real game! I hope that they can keep it reasonably close, but I guess you don't think that's going to happen.
Baylor at Kansas
Baylor is in NIT territory right now, and they need this win badly to have any chance of crossing that border.
Texas A&M at Kansas State
Undisciplined at disciplined. This could get very ugly.
Missouri at Colorado
Missouri has a fine team, but CU has played very well at home. I think this may come down to who hits their free throws late in the game.
Iowa State at Oklahoma
Coach Coale and her players, past and present, have never experienced victory against their northern nemesis. Will it happen today? I'm picking the Sooners, but if you asked me if I feel good about this pick, I'd have to say no, I don't. The Sooners' NCAA hopes are sinking along with their RPI, kind of like a big boat with a small hole in it. You know it hasn't sunk yet, but you wonder where it will get to first, port or the bottom of the lake.
Texas Tech at Oklahoma State
This game and the next against Nebraska are "maintenance" games for Tech. Just maintain your position, and get ready for one of the biggest weeks in school history come March.
---------------------------
I feel better now. No more picking upsets any time soon. Since I went 1-5 on the mid-week picks, it is much better to know that I should at least go 2-4 this weekend.
two cents
02-22-2003, 02:57 PM
Baylor at Kansas---Bears must win out to retain any hope of a bid...BU over KU
Missouri at Colorado---key game for both teams...MU needs it a little more...Tigers need to start the way they finished against KSU...MU over CU
Iowa State at Oklahoma---Sooners need 2 more wins to be sure of tourney bid...none are freebies...ISU shooting for WNIT missed a couple of difficult but feasible opportunities...OU breaks jinx?...OU over ISU
Texas A&M at Kansas State---Wildcats get to polish their game twice before two road challenges at the end...KSU over A&M
Nebraska at Texas---Huskers will really have to step up late to fulfill Yori's goal for the season...UT over NU
Texas Tech at Oklahoma State---Raiders seem to be in a bit of a slump...hope they can get through it without suffering any more damage...TTU over OSU

....no armageddon and no scared daylights for Tech..just highlights. Tech wins the annual battles with OSU (a dang fine team that could pull a tourney upset) 178 to 93...
