Tech has 5 turnovers in the first 10 minutes, OU two. Schuknecht and Preston have played about 8 of those minutes together in the double post as the Sooners look EXTREMELY sharp early in the game.

Sooners leading 18-11.

7:31 left in the first half.

Tech has 7 turnovers, OU two. Maria Villarroel has 3 blocked shots already, including one against Greenwalt. Score is 20-13.

For a couple of minutes everything has gone wrong for the Sooners as Tech has finally tied the game at 23 with 40 seconds left in the first half.

Timeout Lady Raiders after Chelsi Welch 3-pointer. OU leads 26-23.

Halftime score - a correction, the Welch 3-pointer was only a 2.

OU 25, Tech 23.

OU has more fouls and more assists. Tech has more rebounds and more turnovers. It's gonna be a great second half. In spite of the low score, the first half was played at breakneck pace.

41-31 Tech. 14-3 Tech Run. Sherri's fixing to get a T, she'd better cool it.

uh, let's see......could someone else take a shot so the defense would not collapse on Chelsi? And could we double team in the post?

Tech running away from the Sooners 51-37. I haven't heard a game this year where the OU announcers have been so critical of the officiating.

Don't criticize me for the comment, because OU has been absolutely drilled this year without these complaints from our broadcast crew.

Maybe OU should just forfeit - after all, it's Marsha's 500th win.

Tech 51, OU 39, 6:14 to go.

Schuknecht has fouled out. Pearson at the FT line to shoot 2.

Well, our Sooners put up a great effort, but in the end, it was just too much of the All-American!!

Tough game for both teams. Chelsi's gonna be a good one for OK. The future is bright. See how comfortable she is playing in Texas? Now don't you OK fans feel bad for taking her from her home state? Hopefully Tech & OK will both win out the rest of the way.

oh, I don't know, we still have to travel to the Drum for our last game. Even last year's team couldn't pull off a win there. And Oklahoma State is playing really well at home right now, but OU really needs to go 3-1 over the last 4 games.

Heck, no.....we don't feel bad taking Chelsi away, we love Chelsi, even with that West Texan accent....and she really has one.

I heard a funny story about Chelsi and her mother from a couple of years ago....Chelsi was watching an OU game in the NCAA's the year before last and she told her mother to come in the room and watch. After a bit, she tells her mother, I want to go play for her, meaning Coale.....her mother say's in her West Texas drawl,
"but, Chelsi, that's O k l a h o m a.. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

I have always been awed by Natalie Ritchie, great shooter....and it's hard to see Jia Perkins go 0 for .....; I know she wasn't held without a FG, just not looking at the stats...she's quite an explosive player.

whoa, OSU's men coach is close to getting kicked out of the arena in Norman.

Yeah, so we got her some west Texas company for next year.

But seriously folks, Coach Coale made a comment the week after the first game. "Whenever we would get Tech a little back on their heels, they would always look to Pierson, and she would always make the play or get the rebound". That was certainly true tonight!!

ditto, for swok.....that's an incredible job AND to have accomplished it all at Texas Tech http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif I think she's an awesome coach.

Whew! I'm glad that is over! Tech was totally out of sync in the first half, and Jia couldn't make anything go down although she did her usual great job on defence.

Chelsi Welch killed us. She couldn't miss. (By the way, whoever was worried about Chelsi getting booed... It didn't happen.) She got a warm reception when she was introduced and had her own cheering section throughout the game. Very much the way it was with Phylesha Whaley. She always had a home town cheering section when she played here and lots of fans here proud of her success.

Bless LaToya's heart. She was a warrior on the boards and provided a much needed spark off the bench.

Tech played really ugly, but at least they got the 500 monkey off their back and hopefully will settle down and play basketball from here on in.

Great win tonight for Tech. Sherri Coale had a great game plan coming in. I think she outcoached Marsha in the first half. OU came in and tried to attack Ritchie and it worked. She got to quick fouls and basically took away Tech's outside threat. Jia wasnt hitting her shot so OU just packed it inside and tried to limit Techs inside scoring. This worked for awhile until Davis came into the game. She got some great rebounds and got some points which cut OU's lead at the half.

The second half was much different. Ritchie kept OU honest and Tech had some good interior passing in the second half. Tech did a much better job of finding the open player when the doubleteams came. Marsha made some good adjustments that got Tech the win. Tech also stepped up the defense and limited OU's scoring.

OU did a very good job of limiting Techs fast breaks. At the end of the first half and during the rest of the game Tech got some pretty good transition baskets.

Its kinda of funny. Ryan Hyatt seemed to be questioning a lot of the calls against Tech. He also made mention of a couple of calls that he thought OU got away with. If announcers from both teams were questioning the officiating it must have been really bad. I was at the game and thought it was pretty bad. Seemed like their were a lot of strange calls and a lot of makeup calls.

Im not sure that Sherri's "working the officials" didnt hurt OU tonight. Seemed like a couple of times, one after she nearly got a technical that some calls went against OU. She was on the officials the entire game. Course Im partial to Marsha, but she got a few comments to the refs tonight also.

Congrats to Marsha on number 500!!! http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/ttu.gif

The OU TV crew questioned very, very few calls....though I'll agree I saw at least one make-up call.....the good thing about TV is replay and the ability to see the different angles http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

I thought the officiating crew did a pretty good job, but do those guys not know what the heck a jump ball is? I saw 2 different times that they should have called a jump ball.

Glad this one is over...the LR's were out of sync in the first half and spent way too much time standing around.

Davis was her usual spark off the bench...I still don't understand why she didn't play at Baylor. On the postgame show, Coach Weese said there was a "matchup issue" at Baylor.

Whatever the case, she brings intensity and emotion not to mention great athleticism to the game.

Chelsi was great..she has such a quick release and also plays with great emotion and intensity. Maria had some nice blocks but I was suprised that she didn't have more points...don't remember seeing her even take that many shots.

Preface...neither coach was thrilled with the officiating. But Coach Coale was pretty "frustrated" in the 2nd half and got ragged on by the Tech student section. She responded by blowing them a kiss...which they absolutely loved.

It's funny you say that because last week at Baylor, jump/tie balls were called many times (on both ends) that should have been fouls. I know officiating is a tough job, but this conference has some doozies.
