We have heard that the Texas team doesn't like to come to Ames because of the weather. That might change this weekend. We had a Valentine snowstorm. We have gotten about 8 to 10 inches of snow. I don't think there will be a lot of fans that will be able to make it to the game.

Well, let's just say that our girls are not used to the cold weather since it was about 70 degrees yesterday when they left Austin - but I bet they will enjoy the snow since we rarely get any and it never accumulates.
GO HORNS!

I'll be watching on TV instead from Hilton today. Just finished blowing the snow drifts off of my driveway in Des Moines!

I really feel for Lindsey Wilson. She did everything humanly possible today to win that game. Sometimes she made some bad decisions, but at least she is willing to shoot. I feel bad the the W-L record won't be what she wanted for her senior year, but she always does herself proud.

I was surprised that as many people got to the game. The season ticket sections were about half full. How bad did it look on TV?

It didn't look bad at all on TV. The commentators kept talking about the weather, and they showed frequent outside shots. In fact, at one point they talked about how ISU is still averaging 8,000+ in a down year, and how the crowd today was proof that the fans were staying behind the team given despite the "down" year.
Lindsay Wilson played a great game today, unfortunately no one else save Fox stepped up much to help her. She is a great player!
Texas got unexpected help from freshman Nina Norman with 19 points. Of course Stacy was her usual self with 17 points and 13 rebounds, and then Tai Dillard was "on" today with 16 points. Heather managed only 7 points but she grabbed 9 rebounds and Jamie Carey had only 6 points and very surprisingly Kala Bowers did not score but she played tenacious defense, as always! It was a good game - it's good to have the Ames monkey off our back. Props to the Clones and Lindsay Wilson.
Go Horns!

Lindsay is going down fighting, but what else did you expect from her. Today, she could have used her teammates a little bit better but overall, she was cut down by a superior team in Texas.
Don't worry Cyclones, you are guaranteed at least one more win. Nebraska still has to make a trip to Ames.

The Husker's trip to Ames also happens to be Lindsey's senior night! http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif I don't expect her to have a problem getting up for that one.....hopefully the others will follow suit!

I agree. I love Lindsay but sometimes she tries to do to much and doesn't get the rest of the team invouled.
Tai Dillard and Nina Norman were key today as the ISU defense was designed to turn the Horns into a mid-range jump shooting team. The difference this year that hasn't been there in the recent past is the ability to win in that manner. I was frankly a little surprised that Nina didn't take any wide open threes that were available all afternoon, but to her credit, she stayed patiently aggressive and drove the lane for the closer shots. I think Tai is quietly having just an incredible senior season, as she has consistently scored big baskets and played tremendous defense against the opposing teams' best perimeter players.
ISU didn't employ the total slow-down strategy that they tried in Lubbock. As mred pointed out on an earlier thread, they are a much better team when they don't totally abandon their aggressiveness, and that showed today.
Great gutty road performances this week for the 'Horns. Not their best stuff, but wins nonetheless. Now it's up to the Wildcats and Raiders to hold serve and stay in the three-way tie at the top.

I won't argue with Baylor's Sophia Young for FOY, but even though Young had a big game against Tech yesterday, I think Nina Norman should get some consideration for Rookie of the Week. She had a career high 19 points (23 mins) against ISU yesterday. She was also a very important part of Texas' win against OSU on Wednesday. Nina Norman and Jamie Carey, together, really help against various zones. Both can handle the ball, set up teammates, and score. Carey is the best outside shooter. Nina penetrates the gaps and makes those nice jumpers. Once again, Stacy Stephens worked hard every minute and pulled down key rebounds. Then there is Heather Schreiber. It seems that no matter what kind of game Heather is having, if the game is close, she makes at least one key play in the closing minutes.

Good points, carolann.
You've got to give credit to ISU for their tough defense to limit Carey & Schrieber's scoring (all 6 of Carey's points were free throws at the end of the game--and clutch free throws too)
but Norman & Dillard really stepped up in yesterday's game.
As you mentioned, Norman scored all 19 of her points in just 23 minutes & shot 67%!
Stacy provided her usual ho-hum performance...just another double-double with 17 points & 13 boards! So glad she's on our team!!
With Tech's loss to Baylor last night, Texas & KSU are tied for 1st in the Big 12 race...at least for now...
