Texas Tech at Baylor, 7 p.m......Texas Tech continues to regroup, Baylor must have the win to bolster their NCAA tourney bid...Baylor's heading into NIT country

Texas Tech 77, Baylor 66

Texas at Lindsay Wilson [FSN], 3 p.m......Burnt Orange was nearly squeezed by Cowboy Orange. Was it a temporary abhorration our is Texas again showing the signs of being less than what Texas fan think they are. Two years ago I would have taken the 'Clones. Not this time

Texas 74, Lindsay Wilson 22

Missouri at Kansas [FSN], 1 p.m.....Hmm, border war...I think Kansas could make this one worth watching. The Tigers however will Stretch one out.

Missouri 67, Kansas 62

Oklahoma State at Kansas State, 7 p.m.....The Cowgirls nearly took out Texas in a burst of brilliance. Kansas State is winning ugly, but they are winning. Kill And Wreck Her is off her game a might, but Nicole Ohlde and Magic Megan Mahoney are on the case. New Clay Center will celebrate another win.

Kansas State 81, Oklahoma State 63

Nebraska at Texas A&M, 2 p.m....The Enron Division's two most peculiar teams. Nebraska cares about womens basketball, but has the worst collection of non-talent in school history. Texas A&M has a fair-to-middling team, but the school could care less.
I'll take my lasses in red in this one. Nebraska should never lose to a team like Texas A&M. It isn't like they are Texas-Pan American.

Nebraska 51, Texas A&M 50

Sunday, Feb. 16
UT-Norman at Vichy Colorado [ESPN2], 3 p.m......Sooners vs. Buffaloes...a Husker nightmare to be sure..The Sooners have had some offensive problems in the last 4 games, but still have NCAA tournament hope. The Buffs are just at crusing altitude right now, but this is a red meat game for both team. I like the Collaborators here. It's money time and its at the Ceal Tank.

Vichy Colorado 72, University of Texas at Norman 64

Texas Tech at Baylor - hmmmmm, this one will probably be a pretty good game, Baylor can be pretty tough on their home court. But I really think the Texas Tech probably has the best combination of experience of any Big XII team.

Texas at Iowa State - don't even know who to pick for this game, Iowa State can beat Kansas State on their home court, yet get clobbered by Missouri. Think I'll stick with Texas this go round.

Missouri at Kansas - Missouri seems to be playing it's best ball right now, and Kansas lost to both OU and CU on their home court. I'll go with Missouri.

Oklahoma State at Kansas State - As well as Oklahoma State played at home Wednesday nite, purpleland is a like being in another country.

Nebraska at Texas A&M - the game of the day. I think TAMU plays well at home and their defense can cause problems for some teams.

Oklahoma at Colorado - On my predictions for how the conference will shake out at the end, I have Colorado winning this game....but OU's playing with a different fervor the last two games, we have an offense http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif Win this game and OU could very well be in position for the 4 seed on March 11...and that precious bye. Of course, the air is thin in Colorado and very few of these girls have even played there, but I'm sticking with my team. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/ou.gif

Texas Tech at Baylor- I find it almost impossible to pick Tech to be upset by anyone but UT or KSU. They seem to always play well, and I don't think they'll lose to anyone, with the possible exception of the two aformentioned teams, this year. I really think they're the team to beat.

Texas at Iowa State- Hmmm, this game is interesting just because you never know if ISU is gonna bring it or not. Amazingly, OSU almost figured out a way to shut down UT, but somehow I don't see that happening two games in a row.

Missouri at Kansas- Kansas has done well this year(when compared to last year) and I like to pick them to upset some people, but I think they'll have a tough time winning this one. I'm sure that the Missouri players know that if they finish the season strong, they can make a case for the NCAAs. Will there be Jayhawk fans there to see this game vs. a big rival?

Oklahoma State at Kansas State- Thanks Texas for bearing the brunt of OSUs once a month top 10 performance. Not to disount the Cowgirls or anything, but they played above themselves on Wed. Not to say they can't do it again, but KSU is at home and has a huge talent edge.

Nebraska at Texas A&M- I've gotta go with the home team on this one. Seriously, though, it's just gonna come down to who is on top of their game this Saturday. Both teams have been somewhat unpredictable, so i'm interested to see how this one turns out.

Oklahoma at Colorado- Both teams could really use this win. Whoever wins will most likely be in the tournament, and whoever loses will still have some work cut out for them. I think the game could go either way, but Boulder can be a tough place to play, so I'm predicting CU to win.

Sorry Baylor - put my faith in that bunch 2 straight games. Lose a tough one to KSU, alright - but lose a very winnable one against an under-manned team in agame you needed badly- i'm not gonna be conned again. The Bears are just too green, as it were. Going with TECH in a landslide, but i'd love to be proven wrong...

Well, i'm gonna say TEXAS by 14, of course, and i'd very much appreciate it if Fennelly's Freakshow does NOT prove me wrong here...

Oooh...MU/KU is intriguing...I sure do love ol' Marion but her team lacks a center of gravity this year; no anchor to hold them steady when the water gets rough - but sometimes they catch a spark or two and play tough...i'll go with MIZZOU by 12, but won't be surprised if KU earns a little respect - this a 'rivalry', after all....

ummmm... KANSAS ST. by 20+ http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif The girlpokes come to Manhattan and right back down to earth, as Deb carefully studies film of UT's near-disaster and decides to have Wecker head-butt Skibbe in the first 5 minutes, just to let her know who's in charge...

do I really have to pick a "winner" for NU/Aggy? One of those "if a tree falls in the forest..." kind of games -okay, I suppose Chipper will tune it in...what the hell - HUSKERS by 3. They're entitled to another decent afternoon...Happy yet, Chipper ?! http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/tongue.gif

COLORADO by 10. Depending on which Schucky comes to play, OU/CU could be interesting or another hard lesson for the Sooners in a year full of them. Haven't seen the Buffs play yet, so this will be a good opportunity to scout them for our tilt at the Drum next Wed. I figure this Okie jalopy is due for another breakdown on the road (ha...). Who will be Tom Joad this time?

UT @ ISU: a three-star upset special - ISU by 1 at the buzzer (if the officials can figure out how the buzzer works!)

Tech is playing now like a truly dominant team, with depth and execution. Baylor badly needs a win, but Tech has won their last 5 games by a combined 150 points. Try as they might, Baylor isn't going to win this game. Tech by 24.

Texas got one of those invaluable road scares against OSU yesterday. The jarring reality of their near-loss will have them playing with intensity and focus from the start of the game. ISU got a surprise win at home against KSU, but not this time. The particular set of circumstances that led to that win don't exist for this one. Texas by 18.

Missouri has won 6 of 8, and has been a much improved team of late. Kansas is still a year away from being truly competitive in the Big 12. Unfortunately, so are several other teams. Missouri by 19.

OSU nearly duplicated the feat of beating Arkansas yesterday against Texas. They won't have much left to challenge a powerful, but bench-challenged KSU team. Kansas State in a purple-tinted rout by 42.

Nebraska at A&M is one of the two best games of the weekend. To me A&M is the least disciplined team in the league, balancing their many takeaways with an even greater number of their own mistakes. I believe that the Huskers are due for that second conference win, and get out of the cellar with a 7 point win. I expect it to be an exciting game, but not a pretty one.

Oklahoma at CU is the feature game of the weekend. OU knows they have to have this game to have a chance to finish in the top 4 of the conference, and CU knows they know. Nobody can hide their ambitions in what ought to be an old-fashioned Big 12 war battle. I'm tempted to go with the home team, but OU may be putting it together right now, as they have played two strong games in a row. CU may be 9-2 at home, but they haven't beaten a top 50 team on their home court this year. In fact, the best team they have beaten all year wasn't in the top 50, Southern Cal. I like a surging Oklahoma team by 13 in this one.

TTU @ BU. Bears gave the Raiders a 37-minute tussle in Lubbock; unfortunately, the game is 40 minutes long. Since then, Ebony Jackson has emerged for the Bears but Steffanie Blackmon is disappearing. Raiders continue to roll and Marsha is going for #500. I look for her to get it, but not without a fight. I doubt Marsha will make any "statements" by sitting her starters for any extended amount of time in this contest. TTU by 5.

UT @ ISU. Cyclones have been more like gentle summer breezes lately. I hope they attempt that slow-down strategy they employed against Tech on Sunday, but Gentleman Bill probably learned his lesson. If Mik Tennel was able to light them up, imagine what Carey, Schreiber and Sare will do. The Longhorn wakup call was issued by OSU on Wednesday, no more napping here. UT by 15.

MU @ KU. Who's the best player in the Big XII that will probably not get serious consideration for 1st team honors? Evan Unrau, of course. Barr and James add enough firepower to keep the Tigers in the hunt for the #4 spot. MU by 8.

OSU @ KSU. Cowgirls have hit their stride and should handle the Purple-Cats with relative ease. Skibbe will neutralize Ohlde and Hutchens, Craig, et. al. will stifle Wecker... NOT!!! KSU by 25.

NU @ TAMU. The Huskers and Aggyettes will battle for pride on Saturday, but will anyone care in College Station? I hope the teams do not get distracted by the echo of the bouncing ball and squeaking sneakers in the empty arena. TAMU by 7.

OU @ CU. Sooners have done a decent job of holding things together, but the Big XII season is a long, hard, grueling marathon. The Buffs don't seem to be playing particularly well but are still in solid position behind the Big 3. Who wants it more? I'll say CU at home by 6.

Texas Tech @ Baylor (I have had this game circled in red for weeks with the word DANGER next to it, but after Marsha's strong move at the A&M game, I have moved it into TTU win column. Hope I am right. The bus trip back is going to be long enough without mourning a loss.) TTU
Texas @ Iowa State. Texas, but I sure wouldn't mind being wrong on this one.
Missouri @ Kansas. Ought to be a good, hardfought game but I believe Missouri will pull it out.
OSU at KSU. KSU, but I sure was pulling for OSU last night!
NU @ A&M. Haven't seen NU. Have seen A&M. NU in a nail biter.
OU @ CU. CU

Elfdenmom, I really thought we could win this one at home since we played tough in Lubbock, but a lot has changed since then. The Lady Bears need to re-focus in order to win big games. As much as I hate to I must pick Tech over Baylor.

Geez. That was a disaster. Bill's ISU teams have always played a "score before you turn it over" style. I guess I understand what he was trying, but it failed miserably. ISU plays much better when it actually PLAYS. He won't make the same mistake twice. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

Not that Tech's defense didn't have something to do with it. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

Texas Tech at Baylor - Texas Tech. Of course, I've love to see an upset.
Texas at Iowa State - Texas and I DO NOT want to see anything close to an upset.

Oklahoma State at Kansas State - Kansas St
Nebraska at Texas A&M - Sigh. A&M, I guess.

Oklahoma at Colorado - Oklahoma
Barring anything unusual in Waco or Ames, this is the game of the weekend. These teams are so close statistically and CU is at home. OU seems to be getting stronger and has played better than CU against the better teams in the conference. I'm going with the team with the best guards - Oklahoma.

two cents
02-15-2003, 12:29 PM
It probably was a lot of trouble Cory, but at least it was clever.

Texas Tech at Baylor---I was a little worried the A&M game would lead to sloppy play in Waco...maybe Coach Sharp worried about that too...imagine she got the starters' attention...they should be psychologically prepared for this game...KMR delivered a message in Norman...Blackmon may be psychologically ready for this game also...Bears must beat either Tech or UT at home to finish better than .500 in conference...expect both teams to fight tooth and claw...TTU over BU

Texas at Iowa State---time for ISU to play the role of giant-killers again...Cyclones need to rebound well and may need to get 'Horns in foul trouble...but their defenses can be a tough nut to crack...and then there's Hilton magic...ISU over UT

Missouri at Kansas---Tigers probably need 10 conference wins for NCAA play...this one is mandatory...MU over KU

Oklahoma State at Kansas State---Cowgirls might have been ready to surge...if they could've gotten 3 more points Wed and a different opponent today...KSU over OSU

Nebraska at Texas A&M---Aggies may actually be surging a bit...in spite of Wed's outcome...A&M over NU

Oklahoma at Colorado---good ESPN2 game...hope I get to see some of it...both these teams should make the NCAA tourney...but the conference #4 seed is a prized commodity,so this game could be key...hmmm...tough call...think a few days off will freshen up the Buffs...CU over OU
