This was on the road. I wonder if this makes Stanford a #3 seed in March?

That's a little bit of a shocker. I've heard good things about their guard Giuliana Mendiola, but don't know much about Washington as a team in general. But then again, how many of us do, considering we almost never see their games?

I don't think it should hurt them too bad, since Washington's RPI was 37 going into tonight's game. But that's two conference losses for Stanford now, after doing the undefeated run last year. Right now I'd say they are right at the edge of a 2 or 3 seed.

Speaking of seeds, I was just studying some of the teams tonight, and I really think that if the committee was picking the top seeds tonight, that the four #1's would be UConn, Duke, LSU and North Carolina. Lots of time for that to change, though.

Stanford has some pretty good wins K-State, Oklahoma, and Arizona. I say if they win the rest of their games in the regular season and the Pac-10 tourney, they got a good shot a 1 seed.
Granted this loss doesn't help.
Washington lost to Texas Tech earlier by 31 and beat Iowa State by one in Seattle. Stanford beat Washington in January by 14. Stanford's other two losses were to Tennessee and USC. No matter what happens it seems that Stanford always gets a good draw.

Stanford fans were screaming last year about getting shafted out of a 1 seed, so I'm not so sure that playing on the left coast gives them an advantage to a 1. Of course, when CU knocked Stanford out in the West Regional semi's, it made the committee look good for dropping Stanford to a 2 due to their conference strength of schedule.

I'd have to say, though, that overall the Pac-10 is quite a bit better this year. They barely got 2 teams in the tourney last year, although they probably will only get three tourney teams. Last year the conference only had two team in the top 50, and five in the top 100; this year those numbers are 3 and 7. And that is against much tougher competition than the pattycakes they scheduled last year.

BTW, I don't think that Stanford gets a top seed even if they win out.

Washington is a very good shooting team at home. 13 of 26 three point shots is quite amazing. They had 8 different players make a 3. Stanford is still head of the conference by 2 games, but Wash. played a great game. Pac 10 teams very well at home and extremely well against Stanford. The Stanford/Wash rivalry goes back 12 years when Wash was the only team to beat Stanford the first year they won their National Championship.

Stanford will get the 2nd or 3rd see but the seed will matter little since they are playing at Maples. YCN, I don't know of ONE Stanford fan that "was screaming" about their seeding last year. Losing the ASU game in the Pac 10 tourney was the reason they didn't get the number one seed and we fans understood that.

I think most OU fans will remember who Giuliana Mendiola is, unfortantely. Her and Andrea Lalum....as freshmen 2 years ago, they were thorns in OU's side when OU was upset in the Sweet Sixteen in Spokane. Ugh.

ISU played @ Washington as well. ISU was up 8 at the half, but it was tied with about 10 minutes left and stayed close to the end. ISU ended up falling 64-63.
