Anyone in the Waco area or in Texas know anything about this young lady? According to baylorfans.com, "Enrica Johnson, a 6'1" post from Waco LaVega has committed to the Red Raiders", but i've not seen anything official released. I've never heard of her and wondered what kind of game she has. All I've heard is that she's a track star and a great rebounder.

La Vega leader commits
Another District 17-3A star player, La Vega's Enrica Johnson, has committed to play for Texas Tech next year. Johnson, a 6-foot post who averaged a triple-double in earning Tribune-Herald Super Centex first-team recognition for the Lady Pirates as a junior, chose the Lady Raiders over UTEP, Tulane, New Mexico and Stephen F. Austin.
This season Johnson is averaging 21.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and an area-leading 5.1 blocks per game.

Hearsay info from someone who has seen her play and whom I respect: "Enrica Johnson reminds me of Sophia Young, only with better skills."
Pure rumor: BU passed on her and will concentrate on guards.

Waco LaVega standout commits to Texas Tech
BY PATRICK GONZALES
AVALANCHE-JOURNAL
When the first few inquiries started to roll in, Greg Johnson told his daughter Enrica to stay patient.
Sure, there were plenty of schools showing interest in Enrica, a standout post player for the Waco LaVega girls basketball team. But Greg wanted his daughter to hold off and wait for a first-class program.
Their patience recently paid off.
Enrica Johnson confirmed Tuesday that she has verbally accepted a scholarship to play for the No. 7 ranked Texas Tech women's basketball team next season.
The six-foot senior is averaging 21.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 5.1 blocks a game for the No. 7 ranked Class 3A Lady Pirates. She has helped power LaVega (24-6 overall) to the District 17-3A championship and a 14-0 league mark.
As a junior, Enrica averaged a triple-double, scoring 17.6 points, grabbing 12.2 rebounds and posting 10.4 blocks a game. She earned first team all-state honors en route to leading LaVega to its second straight regional tournament.
"We're really excited about her becoming a Lady Raider," Greg Johnson said. "We just think Texas Tech is a first-class program and that coach (Marsha) Sharp is a first-class person."
Enrica chose the Lady Raiders over UTEP, Tulane, New Mexico and Stephen F. Austin, and according to Greg is somewhat of a diamond in the rough find for Tech.
Greg said Enrica had been recruited early by smaller colleges, but they decided not to sign with anyone during the November signing period. Instead, Greg sent out e-mails to coaches around the country, with one of those going to Tech assistant coach Linden Weese.
"He wrote me back and asked for a tape," Greg Johnson said. "He saw her in person a few weeks later and liked what he saw. When they offered a scholarship, we didn't even hesitate."
According to Greg, Tech plans on using Enrica at the four-spot to maybe help fill the void left when Plennete Pierson completes her eligibility this season. He said they also might try to use her at the 3-spot, if she can develop her ball-handling skills.
Tech has already signed Alesha Robertson of Plainview, Tawanna Flowers of Levelland and Brooke Baughman of Canyon to its 2003 class in November. At that time, the Lady Raiders had just two scholarships remaining available under the maximum of 15 and planned on carrying them over to next year's recruiting class. That total will be cut in half when Enrica signs with Tech in April.
The NCAA prohibits Tech coach Marsha Sharp from commenting about a recruit until they sign a national letter of intent.
