just an update on some Tech signees...I'm also interested in hearing about other school's signess as I really don't follow high school basketball except for Tech recruits.

Canyon (26-1) is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation in the USA today poll and is led in scoring by Tech signee Brooke Baughman with 18.3 ppg. Baughman led her team to a district championship against Dalhart with 25 points. Texas signee Kalee Carey is also on this team. I'm not positive but I think Carey is averaging about 13 or 14 ppg.

Alesha Robertson is finally healthy and playing well for Plainview (27-2). Robertson led her team to a district championship against Palo Duro with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Plainview is not ranked in the national polls, but I personally think they are a better team than No. 1 Canyon -- In the state rankings, Canyon is No. 1 in 3A and Plainview is No. 1 in 4A. I still think Robertson is the best player in the state.

Tawanna Flowers is averaging around 20 ppg for Levelland (20-8) but was injured recently. She only played 16 minutes scoring 7 points and 7 rebounds losing to Estacado for the district championship. Lavonda Henderson, a sophomore Tech recruit, scored 20 points for Estacado. Levelland is ranked 6th in the state in class 4A. Estacado (27-3) is ranked 12th in 4A.

I think Krista Sanchez from Springdale, Arkansas is having a really good year.....certainly sounds like a "tough" kid...

Krista Sanchez's all-around skills and maturity have gained her attention at the highest levels.

"We're at a tournament in Las Vegas and Krista scored 28 against this all-star Florida team," Kim Sanchez said. "(University of Connecticut coach) Geno Auriemma came up to Scott (Loucks, Krista's AAU coach) and said, 'I want 34.' Scott said, 'You can't have her.' Geno said, 'We'll who's got her?'

"Scott just started singing 'Boomer Sooner.'"

Krista Sanchez already had chosen Oklahoma, in part for the team camaraderie fostered by Sooners coach Sherri Coale.

"Sherri told us Geno called her later that night," Kim Sanchez said. "She said Geno told her, 'You got yourself a helluva player. Nobody knows about her.'"
