Baylor at Nebraska, 7:05 p.m.
Kansas at Colorado, 8 p.m.
Oklahoma State at Iowa State, 7 p.m.
Missouri at Kansas State, 7 p.m.
Oklahoma at Texas A&M, 7 p.m.
This one is easy.
Baylor
Colorado
Iowa State
Kansas State
Oklahoma
I HOPE YOU PROVE ME WRONG UNDERDOGS!
Baylor at Nebraska. Hurrah for the Huskers for getting that first win. Success will be short-lived, however. Baylor by 10.
Kansas at Colorado. The Buffs look a bit anemic right now, but should have enough to beat the Jayhawks at home. CU by 7.
Oklahoma State at Iowa State. Cyclones in a rout. ISU by 21.
Missouri at Kansas State. Very interesting game here. Missouri is on fire all of a sudden, having whipped ISU and CU of late. K-State may be a little thin, but proved they still have what it takes by whipping OU in Norman. This one will be close. KSU by 5.
Oklahoma at Texas A&M. The Aggies are out of their league right now. OU by 15.

Baylor at Nebraska, 7:05 p.m.........The Huskers got that first Big 12 win this season, NOW, I WANT A WINNING STREAK and I want the head of team above us in the standings.
Baylor is the next victim, because this ain't Waco. (preview to follow)
Nebraska 67, Baylor 62
Kansas at Colorado, 8 p.m.....Tera Bjorklund's back from the dead...maybe. But there are other vital parts still missing from CU, but not enough for Kansas to make up...Colorado 71, Kansas 58
Oklahoma State at Iowa State, 7 p.m.....Iowa State's more into conventional weapons led by Lindsey Wilson. Oklahoma State has to now look inside after losing to Nebraska.
Iowa State 75, Oklahoma State 55
Missouri at Kansas State, 7 p.m....Missouri's shown some good stuff this season, but after what I saw New Clay Center do to Oklahoma...Pray for Mizzou.....Kansas State 72, Missouri 55
Oklahoma at Texas A&M, 7 p.m....The best way to bounce back from a bad loss, tag an Enron Division team, I think Sherri Switzer will have the troops ready to do just that.
Oklahoma 69, Texas A&M 50

Baylor at Nebraska - hmmmm, Baylor coming off a double OT win over ISU after a close game at Colorado....it was close, wasn't it? By the score, I assumed. KMR has the troops ready to march on in......Baylor
Kansas at Colorado - I really suspect any team filled with newcomers and freshmen is going to have a hard time adjusting to the thin air in Colorado. Colorado
Oklahoma State at Iowa State - ouch for OSU. To play as hard as ISU played Saturday and lose is a hard bite to swallow. They won't lose to a cellar team at home.
Missouri at Kansas State - I really think Kansas State has adapted without Laurie Koehn until she can get back. I think the keys are Wecker staying out of foul trouble and Domenico picking up some of Koehn's offense......oh wait, this game is in the land of the purple people. Kansas State
Oklahoma at Texas A&M - hmmmmm, TAMU has problems with offense, OU has problems with offense....in the last meeting Conchita Maria went 9/9 FG, pulled down 7 boards, had 6 assists, 2 blocks and 3 steals with 3 turnovers......oh, maria, maria, please come back from wherever you are. Oklahoma

My team doesn't play this week so i'm not inclined to be sentimental at all; no crack-smokin' picks for me (all you folks who were silly enough to actually pick OU over K-State...)
But yes, looks like an easy week:
-Baylor wins, but Huskers show heart and keep it close
-Colorado, unless the Buffs are smokin' crack
-ISU wins fairly big but only 24 points for Wilson as she sits for the last 10 minutes
-KSU. Duh. (i'll be VERY surprised if they lose again, with or without Koehn, before March 6)
-OU. In a big, ugly way. Sooners need to take out some frustration, where better but in the all-everything metropolis of College Station, Texas. Aggies' wheels not only come off - they roll far, far away...

This is me too week.
Baylor over Nebraska
Colorado over Kansas. I must admit, though, I was shocked by their performance against MU. However, this one is at CU.
ISU over OSU. Dadgumit! I am afraid ISU got their act together just in time for Tech.
MU at KSU. KSU
OU at TAMU. OU. Don't think Sherri is going to let them lose any they should win.
Nebraska. Gotta pick an upset and this is more likely than MU over KSU.

Baylor at Nebraska- Nebraska may have gotten their only win for the season... to bad they only get to play OSU once.
Kansas at Colorado- I always have to pick at least one upset, and I think the Jayhawks are starting to develop some confidence. Colorado might come out on fire though after the butt kicking in Columbia...
Oklahoma State at Iowa State- Iowa State grabs a win from the woeful Cowgirls, even if Linday Wilson has to do it herself
Missouri at Kansas State- Missouri has played very well recently, leading many to predict a barn burner. While that is entirely possible, I think it is even more likely for the Cats to coast to victory on their home court. At least, I hope so.
Oklahoma at Texas A&M- I'm going with A&M primarily because I like an underdog, and because I've already predicted two road wins, I doubt we see more.

Everybody is picking Baylor, except two people.
Here's Five Reasons why all but two people on the board are about to be proven as dead wrong as Geraldo when he tried to open those vaults.
1. Baylor's defense. Against quicker guards they've looked suspect and the New Margaret Richards likes suspect.
2. Steffanie Blackmon. She takes games off, especially when the stakes don't seem high. She'll get lazy tonight and Amanda Cleveland will catch her napping.
3. Nebraska's fans. 3,000 Huskers are gonna show up to see this team get their first home win. We may be skeptical, but we're buyin' in.
WHICH LEADS TO
4. Reverend Kim gets a late technical, and Alexa Johnson sunks the free throws, followed by a Laura Pilokowski basket that blew a close game open with 3:41 to go.
5. There's no Lambert and Crockrum to bludgeon us this time.
Saturday, the lasses executed, shot well, play tough defense when they had to and won.
I hope we keep it up and ratchet up our defense effort another notch. If we keep Baylor in the perimeter, control their inside game and keep the turnovers low, Nebraska wins.
The "Yori Amalgamation"? Well its a lot better than the "Sanderford Screw-Up Squad."
This gestalt is ugly, but its ours!

Chipper, I sure hope you are wrong. Kim will sit Stephanie's butt on the bench in a heartbeat if she don't come ready to play ball. If Nebraska slow-plays us, we may be in trouble. The half court game is not hitting on all cylinders. Hopefully Ebony Jackson can give us a spark along with SOPHIA. Kim won't get a T, have you noticed how calm she has been lately? http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

John Henry thats what makes us Husker fans so unique. Even though we're playing with last years scrubs we Husker fans won't jump ship.
Yori and her staff have done one heck of a job getting these women to just compete and not laying down and hoping to keep the score withing 40. Especially after our best player goes down with an ACL injury.
I don't think anyone would of thought the Huskers would of had the season they are having at the start of the season. At the pregame meals Yori keeps asking the fans to be patient with her and her staff because she knows they'll get the job done. And from what I see of the results so far this year I'm confident she'll bring the Huskers back into contention for the top spots of the Big 12.
Go Huskers!

Well John, that's what happens when the Volleyball season runs well into December.

Hey, JohnHenry!
I put down the crack pipe and picked OU in a Big Ugly Way.
Now the crack pipe is lit and I don't feel so bad.
With their best player (two players?) returning next year, this would be a good time for Nebraska (and others) to keep in mind this news flash from the past:
March 6, 2001:
Kansas State finishes Big 12 season (and Tournament) with 2-15 conference record.
Oh great, dem.
Only 2 of KSU's current players were even on that team. The other eight arrived last year or this year.
On the other hand, four of OU's players were on the team in 2001, although two of them have been lost to injury. The two sophomores who showed up the year after are performing far below expectations. We have a good crew of freshmen, but to compare the two isn't fair. KSU's freshmen last year were their gravy class, and put them in contention for the Big 12 title for a good portion of the year, a year in which the conference had 7 teams seeded in the top 4 in the NCAA tournament.
This year the conference will probably have 3 top 4 teams, and at most 5 tourney teams. I sure hope OU is among them, but I don't suffer from delusions.
Actually there were three. Nicole Ohlde, Amy Dutmer and Kimery Newsom. There was supposed to be another one but she had to take a redshirt because of injury. Some obscure kid named Koehn.

The situation at Nebraska is a little different like the situation at KSU in 2001. Although the results did not show until 2002, Patterson and Etheridge had been building the program at Kansas State for years. The coaches began following the progress of Ohlde, Koehn, Mahoney and Wecker for many years, according to articles I've read. Nebraska is just beginning the climb up.
