12:02 remaining as the NU defense "went up by degrees of Kelvin." I just tuned in, but I'll have to log out soon as I've got a racquetball match soon.
Entry pass to Cory from 'Nique... and second timeout by A&M! It's ... come on Matt, give us a score! ... 21-10 Huskers. The Aggies get a physical score... it's 21-12.

Strong start defensively. Very strong start

Foul on A&M, and Turner is shooting 1 and 1. It's 21-16... Buchanan checks out... Vonnie makes the first, as Kala checks in, missed second one.
It's 9:20 left and 22-16. Let's go Huskers!
Noah121
02-06-2010, 12:37 PM
Huskers are now 4 of 8 on free throws on a 1-and-1... now 5-of-9 as Kelsey makes both of her free throws. Double bonus for the Huskers for the rest of the half.
Huskers in transition on a steal... and a drive, dish, and score by Kelsey! We're ahead by 10 with 8 minutes left in the first half. (28-18 to be precise).

A lot of grit shown by both teams right. Texas A&M is starting to put some plays together.
Nebraska's governor is taking a break from running the state to be at the game.
Nebraska up 28-20. Kala Kuhlman tries to make a play above her capability, gets it block..Tanisha Smith from 11 feet...BUT CAT REDMON MEOW!!!!!!!! 30-22...Adams finishes a breakout 30-24!!!
Noah121
02-06-2010, 12:41 PM
Teamwork is what it is! Kala fires a perfect pass to the Big Cat... and then A&M responds with a two. It's 30-24.

Nicole Neals with a SMART, SEXY GIVE AND GO TO REDMON!!!! Very nice!!!!
Nebraska up 32-24....GIVE IT UP FOR THE BENCH BUNCH RIGHT NOW!!!

A&M uses the whole shot clock to make a tough jumper. Huskers ball... setting it up, going around, and a three is no good.
A&M slows it down... Huskers leading by 6. Foul called on Catheryn Redmon, her second.
No comment on the officiating--I'd have to see it in person.
Baker fouls a rebounding Kala Kuhlmann, so there will be 2FT coming up after the break.
GO BIG RED!
Noah121
02-06-2010, 12:51 PM
Lots of foul trouble for the Aggies! Adams fouls Griffin, so there are 2 more shots. Sink 'em!
Makes the first... and the second too! It's 36-26.
Keep the pressure going, Huskers! No complacency at any point of this game!
Dominique takes the ball away! Setup time... steal and miss, followed by rebound and miss.
Everyone's running like crazy! Huskers on defense... and shot clock violation against the Aggies! The crowd is going nuts!

Pat your head POSSESSION'S DEAD!!! Good staunch defense.
Memo to Dominique Kelley: You lack the skill to try and be cute. Go up hard and challenge the defender!

There's still time in the half, but I've got a racquetball engagement at SPAC in five minutes. Keep up the updates for me!

Kelley subbed out for Kuhlman. Neals is back.
Somebody get #24 to settle down and quit trying to make a highlight reel?

Nebraska 40, Texas A&M 29 HALF
A little shaky at points and very smart at others.
"I'd like to see us do a better job on our ball screen defense." Amen, Coach!!!
What a crowd and what a game so far!!! Texas A&M isn't backing down, but the Huskers are committed to making this game a chess match, and that is something Gary Blair doesn't want.
Good first half my lasses. 20 minutes to go!

Note to A&M. Don't drive within an inch of Griffin or she will go down. How many times does that have to happen?
Huskers are handling the pressure....

I like Nebraska's tenacity..every time A&M pulls within 4 or 6, Nebraska stays strong and pulls further away. I also like the way Nebraska know where each other are on the court. I used to take that for granted at Tech, but these days I see that quality as very precious.

21-0
Aggies played MUCH better today...more like their old selves. I wanted Huskers to win, but I wanted A&M to play well and they didn't disappoint.
Great Big 12 Basketball.

65-60 2:40 to go....clock running down....Texas A&M surging...
Nebraska's offense had looking ragged for the last four possessions.
Nebraska three, two or a year ago? They would have panicked and collapsed.
Nebraska would have lost a game like this two years ago.
Today? We passed. We stayed patient. We rotated. People moved without the ball and stayed mobile and alert.
:05 left on shot clock Dominique Kelley gets a pass from neals and put the ball on the floor with Tyra White closely engaged. She dribbled into the middle. Adams and Buchanan flow to cut off the lane.
:04 Kelley often will try to force action, and a shot or try to gamble on making a play..
Not this time. Kelley looks ahead and makes a smart play.
:03 Bounce pass to a wide open Griffin
:01 Shot is good. Nebraska leads 67-60...and goes on to win 71-60.
Smarts and heart under pressure was the word of the day. Texas A&M played a rough defensive game and that is what kept them in it. The Aggies have the most athletic, aggressive team defense in the league and it is a defense that could short-circuit any team in the country when its on including Connecticut.
Nebraska was able to work through that defense enough times and match with a patient productive offensive effort to pull out a win that I didn't think we could manage a month ago.
Give Texas A&M serious credit. The Candy Man has a leather-tough team that a lot of people aren't gonna like come March. Danielle Adams played at an All-Big 12 clip. 18 points with that soft touch outside. Tyra White was tough at both ends. Sydney Colson womaned up at less than 100% and never backed down. Sydney Carter and Lindsey Moore had a Mach 2 dogfight. It was fun to watch, and I wouldn't mind seeing it again in Kansas City.
For my lasses, once again Kelsey Griffin. Does Husker Authentic sell #23 jerseys yet? If they do I'M BUYING ONE! If they don't I'm buying two football jerseys one will be a #23 the other will be a #93 and i'm putting "GRIFFIN" on the back of both of them.
The line on KG23 today: 21 points, 10 rodmans, 3 blocks, 30 minutes of all-out effort.
The more I look, the more I like!
But you gotta love Cory Montgomery today. 18 points and every one either started a surge or blunted an Aggie surge.
Griffin and Vonnie Turner are blunt weapons. They just hit you. Montgomery sneaks in, smiles at you and never lets you see the blade that she just stuck in your back.
And notice Montgomery on defense. She was in the mix battling.
Also Dominique Kelley. She made the big play late, and mixed it up with the giants all game. Yes, she made some goofy shooting decisions and was trying to be a little too And 1 Mix Tape Tour with the ball, but she also did some Charlie Rogers things down low, I'm giving her some love for that.
And Lindsey Moore. 35 minutes. She had a rough outing. 0-3 from the field with 3 turnovers, but she also had 6 assists today and really played tough defensively. Nice guts, fresh! Real nice guts!
And a clap for the bench bunch. Catheryn Redmon gave me 15 dang good minutes. 8 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks including a big-play Dikembe on Adams inside. Redmon showed her best offensive game in some time. She looked a lot less awkward today on the finer points.
Nicole Neals was being pest on defense. Her shooting wasn't there today, but she didn't let it affect her. She competed, challenged and had a very solid game as did Kala Kuhlmann. I like the way coach Yori balanced the rotation to put some first unit in with the kids off the bench and putting that unit in a good position to really keep Texas A&M at bay. A lot of team have taken advantage of the bench bunch at points this year to make a move. Today, the Aggies couldn't solidify that move with more bench on the floor, and that tells me something critical. My first options off the bench are getting better. Neals played 19 minutes. Kuhlmann and Redmon put up 15, and they were solid against a quality opponent.
OVERALL OUTLOOK: This win is one I am really proud off. It was a game with March intensity and we played up to moment.
Today, I saw good pieces of what can make this team a serious contender in the field of 64. We are not there yet, but we took a good step toward it today.
This team had to fight for it today and showed a lot of grit. I respect heart and grit a lot more than I respect talent. This team doesn't have world-beating talent. This team does not have the talent of Connecticut, Stanford, Tennessee, or even Notre Dame. I don't think in terms of talent we equal Texas A&M, Baylor or Oklahoma.
But this team's whole has the talent to where the heart, the grit, and the greymatter can make can make up a difference. We keep working on it and improving, and come March we can be Aldo Raine and take a lot of scalps (AND I WANT MY SCALPS!)
Anybody who says we aren't playing good basketball in the Big 12 really need to watch games like the one in Lincoln today. This is way we play in this league, and I like it.
WELL STRUCK, MY LASSES!!!! Next up: Kansas at Lawrence. It's hunting season. Let's bag those Beakers!

Great game, the intensity level was off the charts.
Chipper pretty much covered it all so I'm just gonna add my voice to the chorus and say that I was very impressed by aTm...they certainly look like a team that is built for a big run in March. Every player on that team is a fighter, and I like the variety of skills you get from White, Smith, and Adams (and Carter is SOO fast). Their defense is still the best in the league by a wide margin...thank god Danielle Adams isn't a step quicker or else I don't know how we would've scored.
Major props to Kelsey again...she's gotta be a First Team All-American. Her effort and intensity combined with skill is just phenomenal.
Also very encouraged by what I'm seeing from the first three off the bench. Neals looks like a different player even vs. earlier in the year...if she starts hitting her threes, look out. Cat looked like a force today. She made a bunch of hustle plays, changed a lot of shots, and finished everything around the basket. I think something has clicked for these two players over the last few games.
I'm pretty amazed that we shot so poorly from three and still beat aTm by 11. That really says a lot about the versatility and toughness of this team, IMO.

Yeah, I didn't quite get that one either. It is pretty clear that NU is on the way to being the Big 12 Champion, but I don't see how they've clinched anything yet.

Neb is 8-0 has a three game 3 over closest team and 5 of their 8 wins are against the South. Game Over.

I hope we don't make an issue of this. No need. He was just saying that a three game lead would be enough at this point. The way everyone else keeps beating each other up, no one is likely to be able to make those games up, plus SOMEBODY is going to have to find a way to beat Nebraska and have lots of help. Doesn't look likely at this point.

I don't see Nebraska falling apart enough to lose four games and I don't think there is anyone else who could run the table if they did. Hence the Huskers should win the title. The race is not for second place and who knows who that will be?

I agree - Nebraska, unless something cataclysmic happens, is the B12 regular season champ and they have earned it with great play and coaching!
I was just trying to figure out the sarcasm part but I see that has been edited out and probably wasn't intended.
