View Full Version : Quiet Day...

So, what's going to happen in the Top 20 this week?
Uconn to #1. KSU will fall a few spots. Texas and Texas Tech should both rise.
I sort of expect OU to drop out, though at least in the coaches they probably won't. Shooting the ball the way they have--that certainly doesn't appear to be a Top 25 team IMO (hey, but I am usually a pessimist). I still have to think that at some point, their shots will start falling and things will go towards an upswing. Maybe just in time for March Madness...
I'll be shocked if Lindsey Wilson isn't Player of the Week. I'm not sure what rookie will be ROW--Sophia Young or Erin Grant? I can't recall what exactly this week's performances were by the freshmen.
I guess that's my thoughts for the day.

Lindsey Wilson certainly has played tremendous basketball this week, but I wouldn't be shocked if Pierson got POW. She scored over 80 points in three games in the last seven days plus pulling down lots of boards, making assists and blocks.
My vote would go to Young for FOW for this week.

Funny you bring that up because I was just thinking about that yesterday. Tech to be having a good year, no one is on RaiderPower or HoopScoop is talking about it--almost like it's ho-hum. The only time it heats up is when we lose. Last year, on the other hand, when we had a challenge every week and losing some games, we had people coming out of the woodwork to give their opinions on players, coaches and the direction of the program. Isn't it unfortunate that we thrive on the negative side of life so much? You would think with all the world events lately that we would change as a society, but I don't think we will.

Elfdenmom--you're right, I forgot about Pierson's performances this week.
And Press--I don't go to Raiderpower often, but I did notice this weekend that there wasn't a lot being said.

How about Stretch James from Missouri as ROW? I'm not sure how she did against CU yesterday because I didn't get to see that box score, but she was the Tiger's bright spot against Tech.

I think KSU to 5 or 6, Duke to 3, Tennessee is heating up and I think a solid # 2; Stanford may drop a notch or two as well. Maybe Texas cracks the top 10...Arkansas should certainly drop a few spots.
Pierson great, but that is expected...my vote goes to Wilson because of the big upset ISU pulled, but I didn't see Pierson play...Tech looking very solid now.

Sophia Young had a great game against ISU on Saturday, but she did not have the game against CU that would make her ROW IMO. But I also do not know who else it may be.

The first release from the AP poll:
1) Connecticut
2) Duke
3) Tennessee
4) LSU
5) Kansas State
6) Stanford
7) North Carolina
7) Texas Tech
9) La Tech
10) Purdue
11) Texas
24) Oklahoma
I would have been surprised to see OU completely fall out...mostly they bounce 5 spots either way with a big win or 2 losses.
And North Carolina and Texas Tech tied for 7th.

Zo-the week Laura Andrews won it, after her performance vs Baylor which I'm sure you remember, she had that great game and just an OK game in the other one that week. In the case that not another freshman (or juco transfer) stepped it up big, that one game might be enough for her to get it.
Though someone mentioned Stretch James--she did have a great game earlier in the week.
