I've been meaning to do this and with some of the discussion on this board this seems like a good time.

I'm one of those who knows much less technially about basketball than most of you. But I grew up loving basketball and since my mom's the basketball player and fan in our family...basketball in a girl's thing in my family.

But as much as I love Tech and I've been a fan of Tech long before I came to work here...I just love women's basketball. I have a bunch of teams I follow besides Tech. Before I came to Tech I would have told you that Texas was also one of my favorite teams. But that was before I underwent the brain washing that's part of every new employeej's orientation at Tech...it removes all traces of orange or maroon in our system and anytime we start to stray to the dark side, we receive a booster shot.. So..I got my last booster shot the day after I was pulling for UT to beat Tenn. Those shots are pretty nasty so I've got to be good.. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

But seriously, this board has been a terrific source of information, news and banter. I've learned a lot about basketball in general and a lot about the teams of the Big 12. I've come to appreciate programs and coaches that I knew very little about and my knowledge about basketball will never be as good as many of yours..but it's been greatly improved thanks to you.

Now why do I suspect that you know a whole heck of a lot more about baskeball than 99.9% or the posters on this board?

lol.....I agree http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

And I also appreciate everyone that posts here. All the things Scrappy said in his posts, we've heard them...whispered or spoken outloud. We've all heard how over-rated the rest of the world thinks the Big XII is.....

and the neat thing is that we manage to stick together and are actually a pretty civil bunch considering how very competitive our conference is every year.

I want to THANK everyone here too.
Reading the comments of other fans has provided me with a year's worth of smiles.
I am just a FAN. My basketball career ended in Junior High at a very small West Texas town when en route to an out of town game, I had a portable cassette player, and a tape containing sound effects. The coach was driving the bus, and I pressed play on the queued tape at the same time the coach stopped at a railroad crossing. I did not expect Coach would even hear it in a busload of noisy teenagers.
Somehow, the bus goes deathly silent as the sound of an oncoming
train whistle fills the bus. Coach slams on the brakes after straddling the track. The sound is replaced by laughter coming from everyone except Coach. I don't think I ever played again, unless we were ahead (or behind) by 40 points with 30 seconds left. I know this was a horrible thing I did, but the coaches' daughter reminded me of this incident last week with a smile, saying she would never forget it. (It happened over 25 years ago.)

With this post, I officially lose my "Lurker" designation.
It took me over a year. Now, I will gather information
about the games for yesterday and today and see where
those Hoopla! scores ended up.

Speaking of Hoopla!...
I was hoping that this would be Alisa's "welcome back"
game. She played the minutes I thought she would, but
the shots were not falling. 1 out of 6 from the field.
