Who's everyone rooting for Saturday nite?
I think I'll be rooting for the Dookies, I really like watching Alana Beard.

I've thought about this one and have come to the conclusion that I just don't really care.
Hasta be Duke! Too much UConn.

I'll be hosting a supper club dinner during the game (priorities), so won't watch. But, I just don't like Duke--I think this is a carry over from the men's team. So, I hope Uconn wins.

Part of me wants to see UConn surpass UCLA's mark. But mostly, I just want to see a great basketball game that lives up to the hype.
I'll be at a bar in downtown Hartford enjoying the game. Having pizza and a couple of brewskis with some friends of mine.

I hate to say this but UCONN will run away with the this one. Duke has had a couple of scares against inferior compition (.500 Virginia team).

I want Duke to struggle, so we can all see Gestinkers at half-time give her "so go out there and have some fun!" speech.
Haven't forgiven Duke for Alison Bales; besides we're supposed to be UConn proteges, aren't we?

I would also like to see the UCONN streak ended. I have always been a big fan of the Duke men's team and I also like the women's team. I really like coach K. Beard is a great player and it would be nice to see Duke win this game. If Monique Currie was healthy, Duke would be really awesome. As far as coaches of the two women's teams I really like Geno best. UCONN's passing game is usually far more superior than their opponents. In the championship game last year, they were soooooo smooth with their passes.
The expression on Goestenkors (sp?) face was not a fun one when she was yelling about having fun. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

I'd like to know that UConn is mortal. Duke plays in a weak conference, though...then again, so does UConn...
I think the Huskies might have problems with Beard and Mighty Iciss. Might.

I do agree with you there, ZO...but I couldn't figure out a way for Geno, the coach and Duke, the team to win http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

I love both teams, so I just want a good old-fashioned scrappy game...with no injuries...and lots of ref-heckling! http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif
(You go, Blue Devils!!!)

Well, maybe if Duke, the team, just goes out there and has fun but loses, it'll be a win-win situation. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

Well, since they can't both lose... I'll go with Duke. That streak needs to end soon if anyone's ever going to break it.

Could both of them lose? Oh well, I guess Duke because I'm sick of the streak.

Go Duke! I want to see UCONN suffer for taking Ann Strother and Liz Sherwood away from CU!!!!!

If anyones gonna break the streak I'd look to see a Big 12 team do it.
Saturday's going to be another great game for the sport.

Ok, I was going to watch the game anyway.....but it will be interesting to see what the "Cameron Crazies" come up with....
"As far as the Cameron Crazies are concerned, I think they're a little bit overrated," Auriemma said. "I don't think the Cameron Crazies would be as effective if the Duke basketball players weren't as good."
"The Cameron Crazies are worth about 20 points. There's no way we can win this game," the coach added in jest.
They promise to be out in full force for the Huskies, and have been planning for months to ridicule Auriemma. After his comment Thursday, they plan a 24-hour cram session to try to come up with something special for the coach.
"Tell him this is the real thing," said Merrill Roller, a sophomore who was sitting in a driving rainstorm patrolling tents as students waited for tickets next to Cameron. "He's open season on Saturday night. He has not seen fans until he comes into this place."
Wow, this is really GREAT....though where were these folks last year? I heard that when the men's team lost in the NCAA's and got home, they were greeted by a fairly large crowd.....when the women arrived home for a short stay before heading to San Antonio, no one showed up.....

If the Duke and UConn ladies play a great game in front of all those kids at Cameron, I'll bet quite a few will come back. Duke is a program on the rise, but I gotta go with the Huskies on this one.

Hey, Scrappy,
Colorado fans are humble and sedate? http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif
I'm with Zo and GoBuffs on this one.
Just too much about UConn already. I was so bummed when Tenn couldn't hold on and stop the UConn streak.
Although I don't think CU ever was really in the running for Ann Strother, I really thought the Buffs had a good shot at Liz Sherwood. Tera will be a senior next year and the center is such a big part of the triangle offense. Sherwood and CU just seemed like a great fit.

Ditto & I hope UCONN wins in a good competitive game.
swok, it's called selective self-promotion.
Duke's average attendance last year was 3,919, OU's was 6,607. OU's attendance was 4th in the Big 12, just ahead of Baylor and Texas.
I guess everyone likes a winner...
Actually I think Geno has done Duke and WCBB a favor by making those comments and firing up the Cameron Crazies. I futher think he knew exactly what he was doing when he did it. Attention and attendance will benifit. Look at the TTU vs KSU mens game in Manhattan. It was a sellout! WAY above the attention and attendance KSU was getting. Bob Knight SOLD a lot of those tickets and it helped KSU basketball in many ways. Whatever you think of Bob Knight, the Big 12 ticket offices should love him.
There are things I don't like about Pat Summit and Geno but you have to give credit where its due. Both of them are great coaches and have used the success of their teams to advance WCBB, sometimes at a detriment to their own team. I think they don't care what I think, but they do care if I and other people get interested in WCBB. I say more power to both of them.
I agree wholeheartedly, Jimi. Very nice post.
BTW, this isn't the first time, nor will it be the last time that Geno says something controversial to fire up the home crowd. He did the same thing with the Tennessee game last year. I think it is part of his philosophy of teaching his players how to win wherever they play, regardless of the circumstances.
The one thing I absolutely know about Auriemma is that he is one hell of a coach.

Rooting for Duke for 2 reasons
1. Because Geno stirred up the Duke fans, it would only be fitting if UCONN lost.
2. Because Diana Taurasi is made completely out of elbows

Duke by 12!
I can't root for U-Conn in any game because Auriemma acts like he's bigger than the game.

I think the real question is Beard or Taurasi. I'm so pumped to see this matchup. I have a feeling that we will see Alana and Diana going at it for many years to come...

it didn't take that long
.." Duke coach Gail Goestenkors said, laughing. "I believe it's going to be a great game. It's maybe the first one this season for both of us where we should just go out and enjoy it."

...Duke has their first advanced sellout and that is GOOD for women's basketball
