Wait a minute! You mean we gotta play again? It will get in the way of me sittin in the corner and cryin in my beer.

OK

Baylor - Bill doesn't have Kim's offensive game plan copied in his heart like Bill & Deb have each others. And this game is not at Hilton.

Texas Tech - Kansas is improving but not this much.

Oh MAN! you gotta ask me this NOW? Oklahoma - I'm worried that we may not get our head back right, Laurie can't play and that darn flu will get to some other players by then. Then there is the little matter of a REALLY good coach and a very gritty and lets admit it, talented, if short handed, team in sooner red. PROVE ME WRONG K-State! PLEASE!

WOW, what to say? Oklahoma State - because they are at home and Nebraska has not jelled yet.

Colorado - because I want Mizzo to win and Ceal does not like me. OK, you tell me a way to predict what either of these teams is going to do that makes more sense than that?

Texas - They aren't going to issue any free passes and aTm would need one. I'm not ripping A&M. Texas is VERY good.

Nebraska at Oklahoma State, 2 p.m.: Nebraska can do it. Will they? Here's guessing they will.
Colorado at Missouri: Colorado

After tonight, i'm not touching that BU -ISU game.

OK, Baylor - cause I gotta soft spot for the Bears, and Waco can really give visitors the willies...

KSU, unless strange but imaginable things happen.
TECH, or i'll never pick again.
NEBRASKA - what the hell, they're due.
MIZZOU - who shows up for this one? Another pick'em.
And, yes TEXAS, by, like 24 or so...i'd rather lose to Baylor than have THIS game be our letdown.

Iowa State wins at Baylor (KMR was pretty harsh on her young team tonight in post game comments. I wonder if all this is wearing on their confidence.)
Texas Tech wins at Kansas
Kansas State wins at Oklahoma (Wecker will stay in the game in this one)
Oklahoma State over Nebraska (I wish neither had to lose.)
Missouri over Colorado
Texas over Texas A&M

Well, I'm 1-1 on homer picks thus far. I'll not be a homer this time. Kansas State in a close one. I hope I'm wrong (not about the close part). http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

Nebraska at Oklahoma State, 2 p.m.
Another tough one. I'll go w/ the home team, OSU

Colorado at Missouri [FSN], 2 p.m.
Which Colorado team will show up? Which Missouri team will show up? I'll pick Colorado.

Saturday, Feb. 1
Iowa State at Baylor [FSN], 1 p.m.......ICBM State...They're baaaaaaaaack! Iowa State 72, Baylor 66

Texas Tech at Kansas, 2 p.m......These Jayhawk kids aren't at the bottom anymore, but TTU are not like the Cornchokers.
Texas Tech 82, Kansas 64

Kansas State at Oklahoma [FSN], 3 p.m.....Oh my!!! Another super Big 12 duel to the death. KSU got a bloody nose at the hands of ICBM State, and in New Clay Center too. I've said it all season, Kansas State is good, but Final Four???
Oklahoma will pound that lesson home further.
Oklahoma 70, Kansas State 63

Nebraska at Oklahoma State, 2 p.m....Another road game for Nebraska, against a team they haven't beaten in more than two years. OSU has some solid strengths to represent themselves. Trisha Skibbe matches up well against the NU weakness of the moment, lack of aggression by the forwards.
Still, I can't believe that a team like Nebraska with all the heart and ability to beat a top 25 team (remember Cincinnati?) can't execute well enough to beat Kansas.
The Huskers are starting to become a Connie Yori team alright, We almost win ballgames.

Nebraska's running out of good chances to win. They'd best take advantage of this one.
Nebraska 64, Oklahoma State 60

Sunday, Feb. 2
Colorado at Missouri [FSN], 2 p.m.....Another rough outing.

Has somebody here, seen my good friend Tera?
Can you tell me where she's gone?

Britt Hartshorn syndrome is contagious. Its seem Tera Bjorklund's lacking some focus. Against Missouri its gonna bite them.

Missouri 68, Colorado 66

Texas A&M at Texas [FSW], 12 p.m......Horns-Aggies, this shouldn't be a contest.

Texas 78, Texas A&M 50

Iowa State at Baylor - wow, I think this one has the potential to be a good one. And I only get to see the first half http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/frown.gif
I really think Baylor is a very good team, especially at home...
all that green is blinding. Baylor

Texas Tech at Kansas - hmmmmm, Kansas has got a two game winning streak going on, gotta be proud of that, problem is that it's against the 2 who are actually their competitors. Texas Tech keeps on a rollin'

Kansas State at Oklahoma -- I've said all along that there is no way that OU can win this ballgame, KSU too talented at all five spots on the floor. Then again, when you look at the Big XII, KSU has only played KU and NU away from home.....so, what the heck, I'll just keep on being a homer, two miracles in a week... Oklahoma

Nebraska at Oklahoma State - hmmmmm, I think a barn burner overtime could be happening in Stillwater come Saturday....OSU has managed to win a Big XII game and that was home, so I'll give them this one, too Oklahoma State

Colorado at Missouri -- ok, from here on out, it's for seed's..
and I'm picking with my heart from here on out, forget logic.......Missouri

Texas A&M at Texas - now how did Texas pull off a whole week and a half of rest? http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif Texas

Iowa State at Baylor - Baylor
This one's a tough call. ISU coming off the big upset win. Baylor gives up a lot of 3 point shots. ISU loves the three. I'm still going with Baylor at home.

Texas Tech at Kansas - Texas Tech

Kansas State at Oklahoma - KSU
I'd have made this pick more quickly last week. KSU has injuries. OU has the very thing that gives KSU trouble - excellent, quick guards who defend well. Mahoney, Wecker, and Ohlde with a little help from the supporting cast will be enough.

Nebraska at Oklahoma State - OSU

Sunday, Feb. 2
Colorado at Missouri - [FSN], 2 p.m. - Missouri at home

Texas A&M at Texas [FSW], 12 p.m. - Texas

ISU @ BU - 'Clones in one almost as close as Oklahoma

Tech @ KU - the winning streak comes to a screeching halt - Tech by 17

KSU @ OU - well this worked for ISU Wednesday - so I'll try it again - KSU

NU @ OSU - NU trying to wake-up - won't be enough fans at GI to cause that - OSU

CU @ MU - Buffs by 15

A&M @ UT - it could get ugly - 'Horns by 18-30

I like the cute little ditty by Chipper regarding Tera Bjorkland's recent disappearance....... however, I think you would have to say she has reappeared recently. In this weeks two games her line was :

Sunday: 26 points, 10 boards; total of 30 Hoopla points
Wednesday: 23 points, 9 boards; total of 27 Hoopla points

I like CU's chances at MU if she keeps that up. Granted those were both home games this week but her slide had included home games also.

Baylor over ISU in a barn burner.
TTU over KU or I am going to be VERY disappointed.
KSU at OU. Sherri Coale is an absolutely amazing coach, but I have to go with KSU's inside game. I don't expect KSU to exit without knowing they have been in a knock-down-drag-out fight, though.
Nebraska at OSU. I think I will pick NU here. They are getting closer and closer and this might be their moment.

February 2
CU at MU. Gee, flip a coin, but I think CU will pull this one out.
TAMU at UT. Texas and they won't even have to break a sweat.

Baylor in a very close one!

Texas Tech rollin'

Tough game to call here. Gotta go with the Wildcats though. It will be a tough game.

Wow! What a game here. OSU wins though cause it's in Stillwater.

Missouri upset about their visit to Lubbock and take care of the Buffs.

No problem here for Texas unless A&M has some kind of miracle.

Iowa State at Baylor
The Cyclones just got a huge shot of confidence from dumping the Wildcats, but can they continue the streak? Baylor is reeling from losses to OU and CU, and KMR's comments regarding her team don't give me confidence that the Bears will shake out of it in this game. Baylor's perimeter defense - or the lack of it - is the key to this game.

Texas Tech at Kansas
This task is just too tough for the young Jayhawks. Fledgling winning streak comes to an abrupt end.

Kansas State at Oklahoma
The Cats had all kinds of built-in excuses for losing to the Cyclones, but they can't hide their lack of depth. The Sooners will come at them in waves, and they are long overdue for another big win to add to the North Carolina victory. I thought long before this week's games that the chances of OU losing OR winning both games was slim, and I'm sticking with my earlier thoughts. The Sooners won't be in any mood to lose their third Big 12 home game.

Nebraska at Oklahoma State
Chipper, this is why is told you on Wednesday that the losing streak wasn't going to last much longer. Huskers finally grab that win that has been just tantalizingly out of reach.

Colorado at Missouri.
Missouri's not a bad team, but Colorado showed me something about their mental toughness with the way they played against Baylor. I don't think it will be easy, though.

Texas A&M at Texas
The Aggies just don't have the horsepower or discipline to beat Texas on the road. Ought to be a breather for the Longhorns.

Lone Star Grizzly
02-01-2003, 12:06 AM
I will take the easy path and start with the "safe" picks.

TTU @ KU
Lady Raiders have too many weapons for the Jayhawks.

TAMU @ UT
Again, too much talent for the Aggies to overcome, not to mention the Erwin Center faithful. Horns will move to 11-0 at home.

KSU @ OU
The purple will make sure they do not lose two in a row. Ohlde and Wecker and crew will overcome the Sooner magic, but this is closer than many think.

NU @ OSU
Cowgirls in another close one.

CU @ MU
I have a feeling that the Tigers will upset the Buffs.

ISU @ BU
Another "barnburner" for the Lady Bears. Young will not have two bad games in a row. Lady Bears will, but it will be close.

two cents

Okay, these picks are starting to get pretty darn tough. It had to happen sooner or later.

Iowa State at Baylor---don't know...just don't know about this one...Bears have probably played a little better overall and they're at home but...has Baylor seen a zone yet in conference play...imagine OU threw one at them at times, but I didn't see the game, so I don't know how much...well, I'll guess...BU over ISU

Texas Tech at Kansas---Lawrence, Stillwater, and Columbia have always been tough for the Lady Raiders...the crowds are tiny, bounce of the ball echoes...team tends to play like it is a practice session...not really suggesting they'll lose...just don't want any heart palpitations...TTU over KU

Kansas State at Oklahoma---OU losses have been impressive enough and they've gotta defend the home turf but...Wildcats will certainly be doubly focused for this one...a shaky guess...KSU over OU

Nebraska at Oklahoma State---extra few days off this week could help Cowgirls get more fundamentally sound...Huskers lose in a devastating way at KU...gonna pick 'em 'til they win...well...maybe...no undefeated or unvictorious teams after this week...NU over OSU

Colorado at Missouri---here's another brain teaser...think both teams are fairly solid...Tigers turn to show some fire...MU over CU

Texas A&M at Texas---as elfdenmom suggested in the mirror version...no comment needed...UT over A&M

Four games on Fox TV this weekend...three of them look to be very intriguing
