Check out this jackass' assessment of the the women's game. Typical uninformed dork! I think the Penn State women could beat their men. http://www.collegian.psu.edu/archive/2003/01/01-24-03tdc/01-24-03dsports-column-02.asp

Yeah I read this article the other day and was sorry I wasted the time. This is just another example of a person judging women's basketball before they even give it a chance. I'd take quality womens basketball over poor-mediocre mens basketball any day. I feel bad for the author because he is missing the chance to see two outstanding players in Tanisha Wright and Kelly Mazzante simply because they are women.
In my opinion, the womens game is rapidly catching up to the mens game...But it still has a lot of ground to make up. The growth womens basketball is truly amazing, and I think as the skill and athletic ability in the game continues to improve, more and more people will become fans. I wouldn't be surprised if in a generation or two, womens' basketball is accepted by everyone and office pools are taken for both the mens and womens NCAA tournament brackets.

I read this article too....we heard the same kind of stuff when Knight came to town last year...for some reason the very idea that some might enjoy women's basketball...much less more than men's basketball seems to stick in the craw of a lot of people...
But those who really know basketball know there's more to basketball than dunking...I'll take a beautiful pass that results in a layup over a dunk any time..
Wonder what this kid would say to John Wooden...who recently said the following when congratulating the UConn women on their win streak..
"It's a tremendous feat in any era,'' the 92-year-old Wooden said. "I think they play the pure game, more so than the men. The best college basketball in my opinion is played by the better women's teams. UConn and Tennessee are two that stand out year after year.''
Wooden knows a heck of a lot more about basketball than most people have forgotten.
Even Dan Patrick...you know the ESPN guy..in talking about the lack of passing and the fast break in the NBA said...
"John Wooden was right when he said that if you want to watch pure basketball, watch the women's game. Maybe your first instinct is that you wouldn't be entertained by the women's game. Or that you wouldn't learn anything. But watch how they accomplish and carry out their mission each time down the floor. They touch the ball, they run, they pass -- it's hard to have a fast break when nobody's passing."

...oops..I left out something. It wasn't Knight giving wbb grief..in fact, his wife's a former hs coach who won championships in OK and he's commented about how she watches practices and gives him great advise. He's been supportive and terrific about the WBB program..
rather it's a group of mbb fan's who were relishing the opportunity to move the wbb program out of the way of real basketball..hasn't happened and won't happen..the two can exist and compliment each other

I stopped reading the article when I saw a picture of the little prepubescent dork who wrote it.
This neomaxi zundweebie most likely can't play any basketball to save his puny little butt. The entire womens team would make him their little whipping boy and he knows it.
Real ballers give respect to those who can play and don't dis the women's game. I'm sure if this kid asked the mens team about the women's team I'll bet they'll tell him, "We show up to every we can to check them out."
On every college campus there is some puny dweeb fifth-rate wannabe sportswriter putting out this pablum thinking it'll make him the next Mike Lupica. Why pay any real attention?
I'm more concerned about people who are actually making in living in journalism putting out tripe like this.

This is a football school, and it always will be
This is the part that cracks me up........he needs to spend a fall season in the State of Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas or Alabama...if he think Penn State IS a football school.
