HELP, anybody have satellite coverage out there?

When I call around to sports grills, they all say they have satellite hookup. But when you start spouting something like "KU Band, Telestar 6, Transponder 11" they think I'm crazy or suddenly speaking in a foreign language. To them satellite just provides another set of channels they flip through. So what's the disconnect here? If you have a satellite hookup - does that necessarily mean you can adjust to KU Band, Telestar 6, Transponder 11?

I don't know much about satellite, but I do know that KU band is not as common as C band. Therefore, not all places with a dish can tune KU band.
