good article on Stephens and Wecker
http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/sports/5017922.htm
Stephens gets some flack from the LR contingent...but I like that kid (I've love to see Jolee knock her on her butt a few more times)...she's a blue collar player. I didn't realize (but now I've checked) that Wecker was that big...but now yes I do remember.
Anyway...Voepel does a nice job again...

We are very proud that Stacy Stephens is a Longhorn!!
She works hard in every game & is a genuinely nice person.
After Texas beat Tennessee last month, several of the Tennesee fans were saying they would love to have 5 Stacy Stephens on their team.
She does have her work cut out for her today vs Wecker and the rest of the KSU team.
Go Horns!

I've always liked watching Stacy Stephens play....she reminds me so much of Caton Hill. And Kendra Wecker seems to be cut from the same mold.
I heard Sherri on her radio show say that when they started recruiting for the upcoming year, she told her staff to go find her another Caton......not a Post, not a PF, a Caton....from
everything I've heard about Leah Rush, she's the one.

I saw Caton play as a junior in high school and I saw Leah Rush play as a junior in high school. With all due respect to Leah, and as Lloyd Bentson once compared in a VP debate, She is no Caton. Just my opinion of one or two games of observation from high school. Hope Leah proves me wrong.

Nice article Bball Girl. Voepel is such a positive influence in this sport, it must be really neat for a player to be profiled by her. During the coaches' teleconference this week, Coach Sharp talked about working with Stephens this past summer. I think she mentioned how evident was Stacy's passion for the game. She has a blue collar mentality that is easy to admire in a player. Last year in Lubbock, it was a treat to watch her and Ayers go at each other in the paint. It was a whirl of motion. I think they showed mutual respect, but it didn't diminish the effort of either one. I sure wouldn't complain if she were at Tech.

Stacy had a good game today but Kendra Wecker was THE player of the game. What an athlete.

Thanks, metro. I've never seen Rush play; the positive side of Caton's injury is that Rush gets a year to learn now http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

Two Cents..
in her radio program a couple of weeks ago Coach Sharp talked about working with Schreiber(sp?), Stephens, Ohlde, and ..Wecker? from KSU. She said they were all awesome to work with and coach..and she & Jia had a blast...but she admitted she took the opportunity to do just a bit of scouting...looking for their strengths and looking for the weaknesses (if any) and tucking a few notes away for further study. After last year's difficulties..this was a great breather for her...I think it re-energized her and got her reved up again...having the chance to work with so many young & fabulous players.

Don't think Rush will get to learn from Caton for a year. I think she will start at the other post. I just don't see anyone on the OU team, unless OU signs am impact juco, that will be better then her which if true means OU goes to war again with a six foot and under team. (Of course OU's last six foot and under team didn't do to bad) I would also rate Caton higher as a high schooler but I love Rush. Blue collar all the way. Better all around athlete than Caton but Caton is a better bb player. SWOK34, you will really like Rush. You will also love Sanchez who will get big time minutes, if her defense is good enough becasue she is a very skilled offensive player. Sanchez is better than Rush offensively and is a finesse type where Rush is more a hit them in the mouth type.
