Iowa State at Nebraska, 7:05 p.m...After seeing the Huskers play sloppy against Missouri, I'll get to see them in person against those hated ICBM State Cyclones, except ICBM State isn't in the long-rang shooting business anymore.
The lasses against Missouri had an awesome start, but 26 turnovers and a shooting slump hurt them, despite some excellent effort but Alexa Johnson and Amanda Cleveland.
If there is a game where Nebraska can get off the schneid, its this one. ISU has Lindsey Wilson, and that's about it. The Cyclones turn the ball over and don't shoot well. The Huskers turn the ball over and don't shoot well. But the way Alexa and Amanda played tonight could be the key. There's no Angie Welle around the cover the inside anymore.
The losing streak ends....
Nebraska 68, Iowa State 57

Kansas at Texas A&M, 7 p.m....I think Kansas gets off the schneid, too..
Kansas 67, Texas A&M 61

Texas at Kansas State [FSN], 1 p.m....KSU will lose at New Clay Center, finally. We'd all better get used to Texas Fight. The Conradt empire is taking shape.
Texas 71, Kansas State 65

Oklahoma State at Missouri, 1 p.m......Missouri solidfies the Enron Cup, and maybe more

Missouri 74, Oklahoma State 59

Sunday, Jan. 26
Oklahoma at Baylor [SSN], 2 p.m......Hmm, a brutal one between teams with serious NCAA hopes. The Sooners have been winning ugly, but winning. I see Baylor passing the test, because they are at home, barely

Baylor 71, Oklahoma 68

Texas Tech at Colorado [FSN], 3 p.m....This game is pretty even. The Colorado Missing Middle (a.k.a. Tera Bjorklund) vs. The Lost Paint Legend of Lubbock (a.k.a. Cisti Greenwalt). Uncharacteristic candypant play by the Pink Raiders in Austin. I don't think It'll happen twice.

Pink Raiders 72, Vichy Colorado 67

I don't think we will see the blowouts we saw last weekend, I don't see a bad matchup...though OSU on the road could become the only one.

Iowa State at Nebraska -- hmmmmmm, after that thrashing at home vs Missouri and a week off, I think Iowa State logs it's 2nd win.
Iowa State

Kansas at Texas A&M -- another good matchup, here again I think the home team of TAMU picks up it's 2nd win. This one might qualify for the *fight* of the night. Texas A & M

Texas at Kansas State - Kansas State at home, you can bet the stands with be filled with purple people to root against the team of one eyed, one horned, flying purple people eaters....
Purple People win. KSU

Oklahoma State at Missouri - OSU doesn't have the experience to win on the road, Missouri has seen a little light in the tunnel called middle-tier Big XII. Missouri

Oklahoma at Baylor -- Against my better judgment, I'm going to revert back to "Homer". I have absolutely no idea what to expect from either OU or BU. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif OU

Texas Tech at Colorado - Texas Tech comes barreling in, fresh off that loss at Texas, can't afford one here if they plan on staying up with the purplegirls. Texas Tech.

ISU @ NU
Even though the Cyclones are not the same as in years past, they should beat the Huskers, even on the road.

KU @ TAMU
Looks like the Jayhawks' conference losing streak will reach 22.

UT @ KSU
This should be a very physical game, but I believe Jody gets #801 and Bevo's tongue will be purple from eating Wildcat steaks.

OSU @ MU
I do not see the Cowgirls beating the Tigers in Columbia. In the end Barr and Unrau will be too much.

TTU @ CU
If the Buffs had any chance, it evaporated in Austin last night.
The Lady Raiders will be fired up when they reach Boulder and this one might get ugly.

OU @ BU
This should be one of the best games of the weekend. KMR would love nothing more than to beat Coale. I hope the Ferrell Center is packed with green and gold fans and they are raucous. In my mind, the keys for the Lady Bears are to cut down on turnovers, especially the unforced ones. Whitaker needs to play within herself and remember she is not Lambert. Also Stratton, Davis, and Richards need to find the range early from behind the arc to unpack the paint. The officials will have a hand in this one because if Brown, Blackmon, and Young get into foul trouble the Lady Bears become very weak in the paint.

This is by far the most difficult session to make picks. We will find out a lot about some teams this weekend!

Iowa State at Nebraska. This is one of those games in which the 'Huskers could possibly get a scarce conference win. Something tells me that if they don't win one soon, they may begin to lose hope and be looking at an 0-16 record. ISU is certainly reeling as well. Wilson can't do it by herself. I'll say NU by 6.

Kansas at Texas A&M. I think the Aggies will defend the home turf. This will be an ugly, ugly game. A&M by 5.

Texas at Kansas State. What the heck, we're on a roll, we want the title, Koehn's a little gimpy, and our earlier road lessons have prepared us for just such an occasion. They gutted one out last year in Austin, we'll return the favor on Saturday. Texas by 2 in overtime.

Oklahoma State at Missouri. The Tigers are starting to crank it up. Unrau's an MVP on my Hoopla! teams. MU rolls by 17.

Oklahoma at Baylor. Wow, another even matchup. Baylor has the advantage in the paint, OU on the perimeter. Baylor will have the home crowd and the sixth defender (KMR) on the court http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif Bears by 3.

Texas Tech at Colorado. Before conference play began, I had CU winning this one, but the Buffs - despite only one league loss - haven't appeared to be as strong as I thought they might. This is really a toss-up. I'll go with the home team - CU by 5.

ISU will struggle a little in this game but not near as much as Nebraska has in the past few games. NU has been the team looking pink and wimpy losing 5 games in a row including one to TX PanAm. Should be no problem with ISU. If ISU does lose it'll be because of a poor shooting and confidence day. ISU wins by 9

This next game makes for an interesting one as Kansas looks to finally win one against another struggling team in Texas A&M. Being in College Station though, I have to go with the Aggies. A&M

Texas at Kansas State could make for an interesting game. I'm glad it's on TV! KSU will look to take sole posession of first place in the Big XII and UT will look to do the same. Being in Kansas, though, UT will fold and Ohlde will dominate the paint while KSU's guards throw up threes. KSU wins by 16

Oklahoma State at Missouri looks to be another good matchup between two teams fighting to stay out of the cellar. Missouri is stronger sitting at .500 right now. Tigers win by 12

Oklahoma at Baylor sounds like a very exciting matchup. Being in Waco though gives me a worry. I've gotta go with the Bears, though, and their fans from the BU message board will finally be happy with the officiating. KMR will break out of her slump and become the coach we have grown to love and dislike. BU wins by 5

Texas Tech at Colorado is also another great matchup between two teams fighting to stay in the race for conference. The Lady Raiders will have a lot of motivation going into this game with last year's loss and wednesday's loss in their heads. When the game begins though there will be no memory of either game and the LR will come out fighting. Texas Tech takes in by 16

ISU @ NU - ISU will have the better team play and will prevail

KU @ TAMU - Man I'm tempted but this is @ A&M. TAMU

UT @ KSU - Chipper has the location and the winner wrong on this one. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif Its Kendra Wecker Day so Bramlage will not be New Clay Center but New Marysville. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif Koehn or no Koehn (and I would bet she will play) I think the Wildcats will find a way to win. Kansas State has won the last three meetings with Texas and I think they will make it four. There is no way Texas will make this easy but in front of 13,000 plus purple partisans? KSU

OSU @ MU - The Tigers are on an upswing and win. MU

OU @ BU - A lot of things say OU is vulnerable in this game but with Coach Coale and the tough kids she has I think they make it. OU

TTU @ CU - Tech rebounds from the loss and rolls. TTU

Wow, the picks are starting to get really difficult! With a song and a prayer, I venture into my guesses, and boy do they feel like guesses!

Iowa State at Nebraska

When looking at the Iowa State schedule at CollegeRPI.com I was shocked to discover that the school with the highest current RPI that Iowa State has beaten this year is #132 St. Francis of Pennsylvania. ISU has already lost to three teams this year with sub-100 RPI's. What's happening will Bill Fennelly's team?

The public stance of new Nebraska head coach Connie Yori is that the team's goal is to avoid the basement of the Big 12. That's not setting your sights too high, for sure. Thus far Nebraska has seen nothing but disappointment in their Big 12 campaign, although they can hang their hats on a win over current RPI #27 Cincinnati.

Very tough game to call, but I've got a hunch that this week the Huskers get one in the win column.

Kansas at Texas A&M

For some reason I think Kansas is due for a win. They've actually played better on the road (in front of larger crowds) than at home, losing two road games by a total of 6 points. I'm going to take Kansas in the mild upset here.

Texas at Kansas State

I'm a believer now that Texas is a better team than I thought, but I'm not enough of a believer to think that they will take K-State in Manhattan. Longhorns suffer the post 1-800-CONRADT blues.

Oklahoma State at Missouri

I believe that Missouri will be the best of the Big 12's bottom six teams, and playing at home I have to pick them over OSU. However, any team that is capable of beating Arkansas is certainly capable of beating Missouri.

Oklahoma at Baylor

I've never heard Coach Coale sound so angry about her team's performance as she sounded in the post-game interview after the Kansas game. I don't imagine the practice was very pleasant on Thursday. I want to believe that the Sooners will win, and I am basing my pick on the thought that Coale made her displeasure famously known to her players, and I believe that their play will pick up on Saturday. If they don't play better, however, Baylor will likely win, and possibly rout the Sooners.

Texas Tech at Colorado

Coach Sharp has benched Greenwalt, and CU can't settle on a point guard. Inconsistent post play by both teams, but I believe that it will be the backcourt play that decides this game.

Tech bounces back from a dissapointing home loss and gets a good road win against the Buffs.

(If I get half of these games right, I'll be happy.)

(Edited to change "Wednesday" to "Thursday")

I wish for Chipper's sake the Red Team could win this one---I still pick ISU

Kansas will be inspired after their battle with OU---Kansas

Can't wait to watch this one----will Texas have left a ton of emotion on the court to get Jody her 800? Will KSU be at full enough strength?

KSU crowd will pull them through and Texas still must prove they can beat a good team on the road. KSU

Missouri will handle the Lady 'Pokes by 7

Tech will bounce back.

Ferrel Center will be full and loud. OU is a bit shocked after their ugly display at Kansas. Rumor is one or more starters will change. Against my better judgement, I am going with Baylor by 5.

Iowa State at Nebraska---imagine the extra time allowed the Cyclones to work out a few things...Huskers will win soon though...ISU over NU

Kansas at Texas A&M---Jayhawks averaging 9.6 assists and 22.8 turnovers per game in Big 12 play...that's a feast for the Aggies...A&M over KU

Texas at Kansas State---could be tough for the Longhorns to stay on an even keel here...Wildcats rested and ready...KSU over UT

Oklahoma State at Missouri---Tigers need to be greedy and get 'em while they can...MU over OSU

Oklahoma at Baylor---road wins are tough to come by in this league...front court matchup could be a problem for the Sooners...BU over OU

Texas Tech at Colorado---anxious to see Colorado's team this year...gut check time for the Raiders...TTU over CU

This doesn't surprise me a bit....and I've felt for awhile that the daunted, injury-ridden #4 spot could be up for grabs.
