By the way, the person who wrote this is named Charlie Creme. I've never heard of him. Anyone know who he is?

And going into some of the links in that bracket, he expands on each team and why he picked them.....

I already see an error (I think) in OU's hosting....he has OU as the #4 seed and brings in #5 seed LA Tech. La Tech is hosting 1st and 2nd rounds. If I'm not mistaken, if a team makes the tourney, don't they get to play at home?

I asked a question a while back about teams that host the subregionals and regionals, and nobody responded. I haven't been able to find an answer either. Unfortunately, it is pretty difficult to chase down the particulars on this at the NCAA site. Maybe I should make an email inquiry.

The question is this:

If a team hosts both subregionals and regionals, will they play on their home court if they make it to the regional semifinals, or will they be moved to a different region? Are teams barred from playing at home in this circumstance?

The folks over on the ESPN board said this:

Stanford and Tennessee could both play 4 games on their home court to get to the Final Four....ditto, New Mexico, who I don't think at this point is projected to make the tourney.

I really thought last year was the last year that a team could host AND play in both the 1st/2nd rounds and the regional if they were hosting......i.e. Iowa State. I thought that if a team was hosting BOTH....they would be sent away from home for the 1st and 2nd round and would have to play to get back home.

But, I was told that is NOT the case.....I am absolutely against a home team playing on their home court in regionals....but then I'm not crazy about pre-selected sites for the 1st/2nd round. I would feel the same way if OU were hosting both.......it gives an unfair advantage to the home team.

Should have just kept it the way it was.

There was a discussion on the WBBALL-L email list about this. Apparently this is the last season a site will be able to host the first 4 rounds. Starting next season, a sub-regional host cannot be a regional host as well (and vice versa).

Hmmm... I wonder now that Texas is 2-0 against his projected #1 seeds if he will see fit to place Texas higher than a 7th seed? Also, I wonder if he'll change the "thumbs down" on the Horns to what has actually occurred on the court rather than the fact that their next 3 (now 2) opponents are top-10 RPI? His assumption, of course, is that Texas will lose these games.

I think as soon as the Horns beat a good team on the road, ala, KSU, then people will take notice. I think the road losses this year have put too many question marks in some people's mind thus far. No doubt, UT is good, just have to prove themselves on the road.

Something that hasn't been brought up is who WON'T be hosting versus who will.....

2003 Sites

Colorado ranked 27th
Georgia ranked 26th
Old Dominion no ranking
Oregon no ranking
Purdue ranked 11th
New Mexico ranked 42nd
Stanford ranked 5th
Tennessee ranked 4th
Cincinnati ranked 29th
Connecticut ranked 2nd
Kansas State ranked 3rd
Louisiana Tech ranked 12th
NC State not ranked
Oklahoma ranked 22nd
Penn State ranked 15th
Texas Tech ranked 7th

But it's really interesting who isn't on the hosting list.

#1 DUKE
#6 LSU
#7 ARKANSAS
#9 NORTH CAROLINA
#10 MINNESOTA
#13 MISSISSIPPI STATE
#14 SOUTH CAROLINA
#16 TEXAS
#17 VANDERBILT

It's gonna be real interesting to see where the NCAA ships these schools when the pairings come out. How ironic is it that Duke, possibly the number one team in the entire tournament, won't have the opportunity to play at home. I realize that North Carolina State is nearby, but still a trip.
