Texas A&M at Baylor -- Baylor gets back on the winning side after two tough road games. Baylor
Colorado at Oklahoma State - Has Oklahoma State won their sole conference game? Or does the team that beat Arkansas come out of the locker room? How DID this team EVER beat Arkansas? Colorado
Oklahoma at Kansas - This will be a tough one, Kansas is getting awfully hungry, but OU wins in the end. OU
Nebraska at Missouri - After that torching Missouri put on ISU in Ames, they'll come home with plenty of fire. Missouri
Texas Tech at Texas - And I've saved the dogfight prediction for last. Wow, tough one to pick. Both teams very balanced, both teams have depth on the bench. Jody's going for Win 800 at home.
This is one of those game I'll throw out everything and go with the team with the home court advantage. Texas

Texas A&M at Baylor.........Baylor is a better team that how they showed against Texas, but TAMU is better than you think. A very competitive game.
Baylor 77, Texas A&M 71
Colorado at Oklahoma State...CU lacks inside strength right now (Where is Tera?), But so many other parts are coming together. You have to love the Buffs right now. OSU isn't as good, but the Cowgirls are in the second division race.
Colorado 73, Oklahoma State 57
Oklahoma at Kansas....Kansas has some fiestiness and youth, but cohesion isn't there. Oklahoma's cohesion is getting there rapidly. The Sooners have put themselves squarely in NCAA Tourney position
Oklahoma 79, Kansas 63
Nebraska at Missouri [MSN]....What's gotten into Missouri. Ripping Iowa State? WOW!!!!! That could be a start of a mid-season run for the Tigers into postseason position. It's something they've done the last couple of season.
Nebraska is the worst team in the league, period.
Missouri 72, Nebraska 56
Texas Tech at Texas.....The War of Texas!!!!!!! Lady Raiders vs. The Longhorn. Both of these teams are playing for respect. I'm sure the Burnt Orange are tired of hearing about the Raider-Cat axis that is supposed to lead the Big 12.
I'm sure Texas Tech is tired of hearing about how they are not a national championship contender.
I'm sure both sets of fans are tired of the usual bickerin' fussin' and feudin' between Lubbock and Austin.
Well, Talkin' Time is OVER!
I think think this game will be who can better bolster their weakness to produce something. Texas' weak point is their guard play, however the guard play with freshman Nina Norman is on the upswing right now.
Texas Tech's weakpoint has tended around focus and interior play. Cisti Greenwalt's play as of late could prompt a name change to "Sissy" Greenwalt. However the upsurge of Plenette Pierson and surprising play of LaToya Davis could bring something new.
I see a gritty defensive game. The Longhorn inside game will have their moments. You can't keep Stacy Stephens and Heather Schreiber down, but I see TTU controlling the perimeter. Erin Grant and Jia Perkins will gamble, go for steals, force Texas' reponse. They will roll enough sevens to eek out the type of win national championship contender have to eek out.
Texas Tech 59, Texas 57

Texas A&M will hold no problems for a team that didn't show emotion in the loss to the Longhorns. KMR will get this team ready for the Aggies. Baylor
I don't see how OSU beat Arkansas in Stillwater. All I know is that it is a tough place to play. Colorado will have to fight hard for this victory but they'll get it. Colorado
Oklahoma should have no problems with the Jayhawks though they shouldn't look past them. What I am I thinking? Sherri Coale is their coach and will always have her team prepared. Oklahoma
This might make for an interesting matchup between the Huskers and the Tigers. I'm still unsure of Missouri but I think that they can handle the Huskers at home. If it were in Lincoln maybe different. Missouri
The highlight of the midweek happens in Austin between two very evenly matched teams. Schreiber and Perkins/Jackson/Ritchie should be the key matchup. Can the LR guards overcome Schreiber's height advantage. Of course I would count on Pierson guarding Schreiber to start the game. Greenwalt will probably start on Stephens so that Pierson won't be prone to fouling stephens. Texas' goal will be to shut down Erin Grant and the inside play of Pierson and Greenwalt. If UT can't shut down Tech's inside play, it'll be a long night, but if UT can keep Tech's guard play from being productive and at the same time shut Cisti and Plenette down, there will be no doubt who wins the game. Texas Tech's main focus will be containing Stephens and Schreiber while not allowing any role players (Norman, Dillard, Bowers, etc.) from going off for a lot of points. Defensively, Tech will need to come out aggressive and clog passing lanes to prevent entry passes into the paint to Stephens. Offensively, Texas Tech will need to take it right at UT and not allow charges (or initiate flopping by the Longhorns) while still being aggressive. If Texas Tech can stay out of foul trouble and score more than 75 points, they'll win. If not then UT will take it home. In the end though, Texas Tech has too much balance for an almost equally balanced Texas team. Pierson, Perkins, Grant, Ritchie, and Greenwalt all have big games and make Jody Condrat wait one more game. Texas Tech

Colorado over Oklahoma State...I think.....(I was really impressed with Arkansas yesterday. If OSU can beat them at home, there is a real chance that they can beat CU)??????????
Oklahoma over Kansas
Missouri over Nebraska....Unrau and Barr are very competitive players and I expect them to do well during the conference race.
Texas over Texas Tech......Those Lady Horns want to get number 800 for Conradt at home against Tech sooooo bad!

Texas Tech at Texas
A&M has played at Tech, at OSU, against Texas and at OU, got a win at OSU. Baylor is a significant step up from OSU and should get a win, although it could get ugly at times.
Colorado is plainly the better team, and gets a valuable win in Stillwater.
Everyone keeps waiting for that elusive Kansas win, and I think that may happen - this weekend when they play at A&M. OU women are starting to find the stride and should win this game comfortably.
Nebraska is increasingly showing signs of a team in despair, and I can't say that I blame them. A significant lack of talent combined with a real lack of depth means that their woes may continue for a long time. Missouri ought to be on a mini-high after stoning ISU on Sunday. Easy win for Mizzou.
Texas Tech is playing like the very dangerous and highly-ranked team that they are, but they are going against a steep challenge in Austin. Not only is Coach Conradt going for the legendary 800th win, Texas will be desperate to avoid going into a two game road trip at KSU and OU with a loss. A loss to Tech might mean the beginning of an early end to any real chance for them to challenge this year for the Big 12 championship.
On the other hand, Tech doesn't want to be the first to blink in what is shaping up to be a season-long staredown between the Longhorns and Wildcats. Tech holds the trump card by hosting the final Big 12 game, and doesn't want to put that edge in jeopardy.
Really, really tough game to call, but I picked Tech to make it to the Final Four and challenge for the championship, and nothing I've seen thus far makes me think that won't happen. In the end, despite all the factors that point to a Texas win, I think the Raiders come away with their most important win to date. So I pick Tech to win, probably by no more than two, and quite possibly in OT. I think Tech is just barely enough better than Texas that they avoid the upset.
Texas may have to wait until the game against A&M to secure win 800 for Conradt.

Ha! There is no underdog when these two meet...I really think this is probably the fiercest rivalry in the South Division of the Big XII. OU doesn't have this kind of rivalry with anyone, you could say our in-state rival OSU, but that hasn't panned out the last couple of years. I have listened to some knock-down drag-out's when Texas and Texas Tech meet. I do think Texas Tech probably has the better team this year with Pierson and that grooving freshmen, but this game's in Austin.
I recall listening to a UT/TTU game back when Edwina Brown played.Didn't it almost go to triple-OT? And almost every player couldn't even stand up, at least those that hadn't already fouled out.
Here's the box on last year's game that went into OT in Austin:

As for Kansas, I picked them last week and got dupped......not picking them for any upsets.

UT vs TT is always a great game. A couple of years ago it did go into triple over time and it was amazing. The teams we exhausted and the crowd was crazy. Tech won by the way.
Tech is a great team, as usual, but the Horns have the weapons to take the win if they can play to potential from buzzer to buzzer. The only thing I know for sure is that both teams will leave it all on the floor.
There is a great article in the American Statesman today about Erin Grant and Nina Norman. They are very complimentary of one another and both sound excited to face the other one at the Erwin Center. I'll try and put the link up.
Sorry, kate dawg, I missed your pick of KU in my quick scan above.
I always try to bring a smile to this merry band of Hoopscoopers!
Otherwise, my sole purpose in life is to serve as a warning to other people.

Hey swok34,
I was at that game you speak of. The fans were as worn out as the players. What a workout! We lost that game 85-91. If only we could have yelled louder. heheh

LOL Cory, I thought being the example of what not to do was my job.
aTm @ BU - KMR gets to do the victory dance - Baylor.
CU @ OSU - The Cowgirls always have a few surprises for us, but not this time. Colorado
OU @ KU - OU will find a way to win. Oklahoma
NU @ MU - Coach Yori has a major job of building a team out of a box of spare parts even though they are good parts. This is a team game and try as they might the Huskers are not a TEAM yet. The Tigers will believe and the Huskers confidence keeps getting hit in waves. Missouri
TTU @ UT - What I want is Texas to beat Tech but have Tech take a lot out of the Longhorns in a hard fought triple overtime game. Then I want to see the Wildcats take a softened up UT on Saturday. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif I don't always get what I want. I hate to pick against either of these teams. If this was on the other floor I'd have to take Tech. What to do, what to do. TEXAS!
GO BIG 12!!!!!!!
When going through the process of picking winners and the process of selecting Hoopla! players I am struck by the quality of coaching in this league. There is always a sharp mind working both ends of the competitive equasion in these games.
You know each coaching staff is working on ways to expose the others weakness and take advantage of their own strengths. Coaches may chose to try to shut down a player or players as Connie Yori did with the K-State inside game Sunday. Then Chelsea Domenico burns her for three quick treys and she has to change her plan. Ohlde comes back and goes 9-10. It shifts and ebs and flows partly because of the players and partly because of the skill of the coaches.
GO BIG 12!!!!!!!!

Way to go Press! I bet the team needed every ounce of energy that could be transmitted.
Texas A&M at Baylor---rebounds plaguing the Aggies...Bears won't cut them any slack...BU over A&M
Colorado at Oklahoma State---think Cowgirls will bounce back some from last week, but maybe not enough...CU over OSU
Oklahoma at Kansas---Sooners offense has come a long way since Palo Alto...Jayhawks still looking for the breakthrough game...OU over KU
Nebraska at Missouri---if Tigers come down from an emotional high, this could be interesting...likely to realize they need to get the winnable games...MU over NU
Texas Tech at Texas---I know the odds are against Tech here...Horns have looked unbeatable at home so far...looking at a chance to take a clear lead in the conference race w/ 2 wins this week...Conradt going for 800...packing the house w/ $1 ticket sales...toughest challenge yet for Tech...chance to establish their mindset...I believe in these kids...they're gonna have to prove me wrong...TTU over UT
