View Full Version : Arkansas just beat LSU 82-72
It's been a while since one of the top 5 teams lost. Now down to two unbeaten teams, UConn and Duke.

OOOOOOOh Pig Sooooeee!
You can see how the Lady 'Backs put a scare into the Duke...a terrific win for Coach Blair and his terrific team. They've got Tennessee come to Bud Walton on Jan 30...love to see them beat the Lady Vols.
I still can't figure out how Ok State beat Arkansas...but on any given night..

Great game by the Lady Backs. They really showed me what they are made of. They have some great talent. LSU seemed out of sync most of the game. The SEC should be quite tough this year.

Did the announcers really say 11,000 in house in Fayetteville?
Their attendance seem's to jump all over....with around 5000 earlier playing a ranked South Carolina Team and only 2100 for an unranked Florida team.
I want to know how Oklahoma State beat this team, too....though it was in Stillwater. Arkansas has only lost to Duke by 2 points
in OT. Though Arkansas hasn't played a super-tough schedule, either.
Tomorrow Duke plays at North Carolina at 11 am.....and I think North Carolina has been playing really well as of late. Connecticut travels to Notre Dame at 1 pm. Though I can't watch, I'll certainly be keeping up with these two games....
May be the end of the unbeatens....isn't just Duke and UConn left in the unbeatens?

Yep, Duke and UConn are the only unbeatens left and even if they both survive the next week, they play each other at Duke on Feb 1...hopefully that game will be televised.
I don't know..Arkansas has played and beaten SFA, Western Kty, SMS, ODU, Rice...South Carolina and LSU. All programs with a good history of good women's basketball. The Coach of ODU had high praise for this bunch of Lady 'Backs. I expect they may lose a couple of SEC games on the road but I think the have the potential to be in the hunt come March.
Did you hear what Coach Blair said at half time to his team..I'm not quite quoting here...
...I'm not Geno and she's not Pat, but we've got two of the best teams in the country playing here today.
It's great to see the parity this year...although I was impressed with the Lady Vols today.
Hate to admit it but top to bottom the SEC is THE conference this season.

I agree that the SEC IS the strongest conference....the entire league is pretty incredible.
I was watching the Tennessee/Florida game earlier....I've always really liked Carolyn Peck as a coach, though I was surprised that her assistant coach was the one who was standing up most of the time and Peck was squatted down by a chair.
I had meant by Arkansas' "not super tough"....was that they had played a couple of good teams, though few in the Top 50 RPI wise..though they have played a really good schedule. Their conference schedule will more than prepare them for the NCAA's..
with the SEC having 8 of their 12 in the Top 50.
I was actually rooting for LSU, being an ex-Baton Rouger.

The Lady Backs looked pretty awesome today. Shameka Christon is another legitimate All American from the junior class. LSU could never really find their flow offensively and Arkansas took advantage. The SEC is totally up for grabs, but as of today, I would have to give the advantage to Tennessee.
The SEC is over flowing with talent. Some of the freshman and sophomores I have seeen in this league are simply amazing. In the Ark-LSU, I was very impressed with Seimone Augustus (even though she had an off night) and Ruby Vaden. Augustus is very reminiscent of Chamique Holdsclaw as a freshman, and Vaden is the next all star power forward in this conference. With other players like Ely, Zolman, and Fluker at Tennessee, Tan White at Mississippi St., and Kara Braxton at Georgia, the SEC is the place to look if you wanna find the next generation of stars in womens basketball.

I was very impressed with Shameka Christon's play and her 25 point effort. She is the real deal and Cherry is a pretty good player as well....love her elevation on her jump shot!
