CU handed KU their 22nd straight Big 12 loss today in Lawrence. Kate Fagan scored 22, including 6 for 8 shooting on 3-pointers. Tera Bjorklund returned to double figure scoring with 12 on 6-10 shooting. Tera also had 8 rebounds. Linda Lappe almost had a double-double with 8 points and 10 assists.

Kansas will win a Big 12 game this year. They are definitely more athletic this year....their biggest obstacle is youth. They just need time to gel.

Next up for CU is OSU in Stillwater on Wednesday night before returning home to play Texas Tech and Baylor.

Prior to the Tech game, CU will have an alumni game featuring a number of the great names of the past including all time leading scorer and rebounder Lisa Van Goor, former Harlem Globetrotter Bridget Turner, and my very favorite CU player of all time, Jen Terry who is now in Medical School at CU. One of my other favorites, Raegan Scott will be at the game but will not play as she is expecting her first child. By the way, Raegan is now the head coach at Utah State which is resurrecting its womens basketball program after being dormant for a number of years.

Shelly Sheetz will not be able to attend due to her assistant coaching duties at San Diego University.

I remember what an incredible game Shelly Sheetz had against Stanford in the NCAA Western Regional in 1993. One or more of the Tech coaches stayed up all night trying to find a way to defend her and determined that she shot better moving to her left. Stephanie Scott drew the assignment and wore a string on her right (?) hand to remember to stay on Shelly's left whenever she moved to shoot. It worked and the rest is history, but Shelly was a great player.

Shelly was a great player, elfdenmom. Tech played outstanding defense in that game, and was definitely deserving of that National Championship!

Kind of ironic that the reason for the alumni game before Sunday's game with Tech, is to honor that Elite 8 team.

That was the year that I became a CU and Ceale Barry fan..Sheetz and was so versatile. I hope our Tech team peaks in on that alumni game and takes a look at some terrific players.

Go Buffs...we've been hearing about a couple of terrific freshman that are playing for CU this year..Coach Sharp and the announcers mentioned them yesterday and I have to admit I haven't been paying as much attention this year...

Can you tell us more about them?

Sure thing, Bball Girl.

Amber Metoyer is the prize of the freshman class. She is from Fairview High School in Boulder where she finished 2nd to Ann Strother (now at UConn) for the Ms. Colorado Basketball title last season. Usually Coach Barry is not too keen on playing freshmen in crunch time, but Amber has been clutch in CU's wins over USC, Syracuse, and Iowa State. She will also be on the CU track and field team the spring, and has competed nationally in the heptathlon. Physically, I would compare her to Kendra Wecker at Kansas State.

The other newcomer that I think Coach Sharp was referring to is Maria Billingsley, a Junior College Transfer from Central Arizona Junior College. She moves a million miles per minute, and plays excellent defense. Her biggest drawback though is her size (5'6") and her very slight build. She is a real smart player though, and has really pressed, if not beaten out Sy Stafford at point guard.

CU will also have a transfer from Georgia suiting up next year. Whitney Law is from Chatfield High School in Littleton, CO. She played one year at Georgia, and then transferred to CU. She is an excellent shooter and student of the game....much like Sabrina Scott.

Hope this is the info you were looking for.
