ISU got it down to 1 point a cople of times but couldn't score and then a couple of turn overs. Then fouling to try to get the ball back and they made the free throws.

Just got back from the game. KSU was very streaky the whole night. They would get a good lead and then Iowa State would come back. The Cyclones were able to get the lead down to 1 with around 2 minutes left, but they were unable to get the lead. It was a tough night for Wilson who was 5-20 from the field (1-7 from 3 pt land). The Cyclones also missed a number of FTs during the game. For KSU, the first half was all outside shooting. Chelsea Domenico played an outstanding game with around 12 points which I believe is probably a career high. Koehn was limited in playing time, and had a noticeable limp during the game. During the second half, the Wildcats forced it inside to Nicole Ohlde. I believe she had 18 points in the second half. Wecker again played hard and contributed another double-double. KSU did not play as well as I had expected, but when you put a run together like they have, it is bound to hit a bump. Iowa State played excellent defense all night. They are sure to get some quality wins this year and may just sneak up on some teams. Congrats to both teams on a pretty good game. The attendance was over 7,000 despite a snow storm that probably kept many people at home.
Some stats that strike me:
Lisa Kriener had a respectable 12 pts and 10 rebounds against Ohlde. She's been playing very well this season.
Total of 24 fouls called in the game. That surprises me considering ISU's much improved defense. It must have been a pretty clean game.
ISU had 17 assists on 22 FG and only 12 TO. Eary in the season, ISU was turning the ball over a lot and getting very few assists. Now, that has changed. Wilson was 5-20 from the field, but she had 11 assists and only 2 TO.

Wilson impresses with her inside and outside scoring and inside play as a power point guard. Yet, I think the team is a better team when the point gets more assists. My thinking was that ISU could finish at .500 in conference, but with the poor non-conference showing, that won't be enough to get into the NCAA. They'll have to show the near wins are indicative of true stength and win some games against the top half of the conference.
