... as heard on TV news tonight

She went to medical school on an armed forces "scholarship" for service if I remember correctly, and is now being deployed.

Time for a couple of prayers for all of our forces in harms way with maybe a special mention for one who is quite special for some of us.

That would be all of us really . . .

Thank you and she will be in our thoughts.

Just another reason to protest and agitate even more to end this aimless conflict.

May the Lord's loving protection be with you Caton, and all our forces.

Memo to our elected officials: It's easy to be brave with another person's body.

Many prayers that she is able to save many lives and stay safe herself! I didn't realize the commitment that she had made for medical school - I always loved her on the court, now I admire her all the more.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP)—Caton Hill built a reputation as a hard-nosed player for Oklahoma, a rugged rebounder who played in a school-record 140 games. Her coach calls her a player who defines the Sooners’ program.

Hill, now a U.S. Army captain, said Wednesday that lessons learned from her basketball career should help her deal with challenges she might face while on combat duty in Afghanistan. She leaves for a one-year deployment on Friday—and she’s nervous.

She started her residency in family medicine last year, but after a year, she decided that she wanted to do something different.

Hill knew becoming a flight surgeon could land her on the front line.

"Taking care of the people that are fighting for you is one of the most honorable things you can do," she said.

2004 Big 12 Tournament Quarterfinal. Oklahoma vs. Colorado

:20 left Oklahoma clinging to a three-point lead, and Erin Higgins at the line..

First free throw: MISSED!

Second free throw: MISSED!

The ball caromed off the rim and bounced to the left wing, slowly dropping to earth with Tera Bjorklund and Kate Fagan boxing out for the rebound.

It fell earthward, seemingly into Colorado hands.
Caton Hill made a beeline for that ball.

She didn't think about Bjorklund being there. She didn't think about not being fast enough.

Caton Hill did not think about the knee brace she wears or the injury that brought that brace into being. She didn't think about the rehab she endured to return.

She only thought about that one ball. One rebound.
Hill has hundreds of rebounds, but this one was most important.

Hill split the Colorado defenders to swipe the rebound!!! The Buffs had to foul and they did.

I've often said that Caton Hill is a great supporting actress, but not a leading lady.
Caton Hill was a leading lady on that play. It was a blockbuster play to win the game.

Godspeed, Capt. Hill...Definitely a leading lady :)
