oh no....Nebraska's sitting in a 21 point hole. Looks like Margaret Richards has 4 fouls with over 13 minutes to play.

4 points in a half. Richards going back to being Crossing Guard Margaret defensively.

This team is not very good.

Vichy Colorado 74, Nebraska 54...Made it look good at the end. Once again Ceal Berry shows her high class, and her team sounded to be more on the beam.

Nebraska again played a solid first 15-17 minutes, they played what seems to be a normal occurance, a lousy second half until the game is all the way out of reach.

Next up...Kansas State at home. Maybe we can lobby the NCAA for a handicap...say spot us 30 points?

Chipper, keep the chin up. Nebraska hasn't won in Boulder since 1985, so you really couldn't realistically expect a win tonight.

The fact that your team was dead even at 25 minutes before halftime is definitely a positive sign, especially considering the fact that CU got stoned at Manhattan just 4 days ago.

Your opening schedule was the worst in the Big 12 this year, so even if you are 0-3 you shouldn't take too much away from that. Nobody expected the Huskers to win any of the first 3 games anyway. This is a good learning experience for a squad that I think has a real hunger for success, so let's just play out the string and see where it all ends up.

You and I and everyone else knows that you won't win the Big 12 this year, but I think the same could be said for OU, a team that won or shared the last 3 titles.

Rome wasn't built in a day, but you and other Husker fans have to keep faith in your team. The worst sickness that can happen to any sports program is apathy. Your program may be worming its way out of that situation, but look at CU - their attendance has been a shadow of what it was just a few years ago, when they outdrew the men's team. Ceal Barry just decided to quit promoting her team, and the university decided to follow suit.

Let's hope that doesn't happen at Nebraska. The Big 12 can't survive the hit of a bunch of programs that just don't want to feed the fire. NU may be down, but your program is decidedly not out, especially in a great state like Nebraska.

Is 25 minutes before halftime 5 minutes before the games starts?

tied at 25 just minutes before halftime.

I noticed the obvious just after I posted.

Most teams are tied 25 minutes before the half. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

Being at tied 25 before half is nice.

But the goal of the game is being ahead at the end, and Nebraska failed in that goal miserably. They trailed by 20 at the end.

I don't care about "expectations" when my is playing even with the opposition, I expect to see them continue the fight and at least finish strong. They shot 5-for-26 in the second half (that's 5-for-26). That is unacceptable.

Its unacceptable that our point guard needs 15 seconds to get the basketball across the timeline under pressure.

Its unacceptable that this team has played worse against quality opposition just two months after beating a ranked, NCAA tournament qualifier from the previous year.

The team is hustling. I will give them that. I like the effort, but it comes down to results. In the last four ballgames, the results have been poor. The team is back to the same substandard play we've seen for the last two years.

I'll still support my lasses, but I'll call it like I see it. And the way I see it is, they just aren't very good, and tonight was yet another example.

"The worst sickness that can happen to any sports program is apathy.

That is an easy thing to say from the top of the standings board. Faith isn't our problem, talent is. Somebody has to start stepping up and make some plays, period. Tonight our best player, went back to how she used be. Ineffective.

The answer to apathy is simple. WIN!
Colorado fans should show up for that team. They went to the Elite 8 last year. They'll be a solid team this year, and will make the NCAA show. People jumped off the bandwagon they weren't winning. That's natural. If CU keeps building up, they'll come back again.

Nebraska fans aren't abandoning this ballclub. They are averaging about 2,500 a contest. Next week, I'm flying home for a visit and the ladies are at home. I'll take in that game (against them Iowa Staters no less). But when I do go into my seat, I will expect a lot better than what I've seen the last four games.

Okay - I have no idea where this came from. Ceal has stopped promoting the team as has the university?

There are ads in the local paper several times a week promoting the team with special deals for a particular game. There is a show aired locally on ESPN2 every Saturday morning which includes Ceal Barry.

I beleive there are reasons why attendance is down, some of which has to do with the recent lean years. But it is more than that.

I do not think that Ceal has given up on attracting fans and neither has the athletic department. But attrendance won't rise rapidly over night either.

If I remember correctly, CU finished in the top 35 nationally in attendance last season. That's not exactly terrible.
