Caught the "Brewer Breakfast" this morning, saw Mizzou for first time AND got free food, what could be better?
Team looked fairly sharp, playing hard on defense, a little disorganized at times on O but that's to be expected this time of year. Big news would be improvement of the bigs, especially Breanna Brock who mostly played mopup time in the last 5 minutes last year, she's a totally new player and may be pushing for a starting slot. Kendra Frazier looked good, has nice hands for someone her size, and Flores did some good things on O and had a MONSTER block on D. Could really change options on the offense for the Tigers to have improved play from these three, a big help for Coach Stein.
They also hit 3s well, especially Amanda Hannemann, and Toy Richbow looked like she's taking on some leadership role at the point. Jessra Johnson was putting out a lot of effort, the real concern is the same one that has plagued Mizzou for...well hell, as long as I can remember...and that was missing little bunny shots. Too many layups and shorties falling out. But in general they're looking better than I'd anticipated.
Got out to discover that my planned exit from the parking lot was, in fact, the vantage point for several dozen fans at the homecoming parade. Fortunately, the University of Missouri provided me an escape route via what I call "little alternate roads." You call them sidewalks.
