I may not make many friends on this board by making this post, but I feel compelled to do it. I was really surprised at the behavior of the Kansas bench players yesterday. It is one thing to be excited and into the game; cheering on your team and jumping up and down in excitement. It is another to be literally dancing around, "raising the roof", and taunting the fans in a neck and neck conference game. I think what was more disturbing is that Coach Washington has either outright endorsed it, or tacitly endorsed it by not correcting it. Perhaps I still hold a grudge from Coach Washington herself taunting our fans a few years ago after they broke our home winning streak, but I was just unimpressed.

I've seen lots of high-intensity coaches and players come through Hilton, and I have no problem with them. Kim M-R, Sherri Coale, and almost every other Big 12 coach and team has been ridden by our fans for going after the officials, but I don't ever recall a women's coach or player outright taunting the fans like I saw yesterday, or in the past with this Kansas team.

Blast me if you will, but I feel better having gotten this off of my chest.

You are absolutely right in your assessment of the Jayhawks. We have always been disgusted with the antics of the KU bench and players in general. This year seemed to be even worse than usual, tho. I never expect much (especially in terms of civility and common decency) from Kansas OR Coach Washington, but even a slight amount of good sportsmanship would be nice now and then. However, I don't expect to ever see it from them until she is long gone.

After last season, they were probably beside themselves with excitement over playing a close game. It has been a long time since they had anything to cheer about in Big XII play.

I am certainly not a Kansas fan, but I am willing to forgive a little over-exuberance. Of course, if they had been playing Tech....

From what I've seen of Kansas over the years, I'd be inclined to believe what cycofan saw is exactly what happened - and wasn't taken out of context. Any coaching staff that can harbor a player like Lynn Pride and always put up with her arrogant and selfish play, game after game, well, I just don't have much respect for that kind of coaching staff.

I'm more of a KU fan than in the past just because I like to see a team do well especially after reaching rock bottom like last season. But if they are exhibiting this kind of behavior.....

With Ervin coming in next year KU is very close to being very good again. I don't have a problem with some taunting of the fans since it seems like these girls put up with a lot of verbal smack during the game themselves. Just seems like some don't know when or where to focus their energies.
