Shalee Lehning collided with Lindsey Harding late in the first half last night and did not return to action.

Mostly it's just talk right now, with "shoulder separation", "shoulder dislocation" and "MRI" being tossed about. We should be getting some more definite information later today, or at the latest tomorrow.

Here's the news from the AP
Dream guard Shalee Lehning left with an injured left shoulder with 1:37 remaining in the second quarter and did not return. She collided with Harding while scrapping on the floor for a loose ball, and is day-to-day.

For those who haven't been following the WNBA all that closely this season, Shalee took over as the starting PG for the Atlanta Dream late in the first half of the season, playing in all 34 games with 20 starts, the most for any rookie. Her highest scoring game was 15 against the Sun in her last full game on 9/11. She had 10 assists twice.

The Dream finished in second place in the East with an 18-16 record, just a mite better than last season's 4-30.

Over at ESPN, Mechelle reports Rookie guard Shalee Lehning, who has been a good floor general for the Dream, hurt her shoulder in Saturday's game against the Mystics but is expected back.

Hopefully Mechelle is right.

A grade 4 shoulder separation where the ball popped completely out of the socket and created ligament damage. Shalee will have surgery on Tuesday. Rehab will be at least four months. So, she won't be back for any games this season.

Oh, bless her heart. Hope the surgery goes really well for her and takes care of the problem permanently.

Best wishes to Shalee for successful surgery and rehab.

Wonder how this affects her teams post-season outlook? Any opinions? (I don't follow the WNBA much so wouldn't want to hazard a guess)

Shalee will spend this semester back on the Kansas State campus finishing her degree. I am confident she will attack her rehab with the same passion we have seen on the court and will be ready to go when training camp starts next May. I'm not sure what her plans are for the spring semester, but it wouldn't surprise me to see her hanging out around the Wildcat bench and coaching from her former "water girl" position (have any of you seen the picture of her sitting at the end of the bench when she was about 7 and she was the water girl for her brother's high school team which was playing in the state tourney at Bramlage?).
