Don't look so bad for the Big 12. Although we only have 4 teams with "hot" RPI's, we don't have any real sinkers, either.
Here's the skinny...
1/10/2003
002 Texas Tech
003 Kansas State
011 Oklahoma
018 Colorado
062 Texas
087 Baylor
102 Iowa State
114 Nebraska
123 Kansas
135 Missouri
138 Texas A&M
172 Oklahoma State
If memory serves me correctly, yesterday Tech was #1 and KSU was #4, so I guess 2 and 3 are a wash. They are in fact, at least in my opinion, fairly accurate assessments of the quality of those two squads.
OU at #11 and CU and #18 is a bit of a puzzle, because the Sooners were idle, and in my recollection were #12 yesterday, while CU beat ISU and dropped 2 spots.
I don't have the perfect memory for this, but Texas has climbed a number of spots since yesterday, and I can't give an accurate statement about any of the other teams.
Of course, Tennessee has assumed their customary position at the top of the RPI rankings.
And once again, I can't believe how lucky Duke was yesterday not to lose. I guess that makes 2 of last year's Final Four teams that are concerned that only one player is carrying the team. (Along with UConn.)
At least they have a player carrying their teams!
