The Courtney Paris article prompted me to think of the rookies and how they are doing. Here is a very brief rundown, giving only their minutes per game and points per game, rounded off in the interest of easy typing. I do know that there are other factors of interest, but those are typically the ones people look at first. (I checked, but there still may be errors)
The figure after their mpg and ppg is their rookie ranking of the week, courtesy of the WNBA, listing the top five and five Honorable Mention. http://www.wnba.com/features/rookierankings_090709.html The article suggests that for the first time, the Rookie of the Year is likely to be a non-starter.
Currently all of the first round players and four of the second round draftees are still around.
1 Atlanta Dream - Angel McCoughtry 17 10 3
2 Washington Mystics - Marissa Coleman 20 10 5
3 Chicago Sky - Kristi Toliver 12 6 H
4 Minnesota Lynx - Renee Montgomery 18 8 4
5 Phoenix Mercury - DeWanna Bonner 21 11 1
6 Indiana Fever - Briann January 21 5 H
7 Sacramento Monarchs - Courtney Paris 8 3
8 New York Liberty - Kia Vaughn 9 2
9 Minnesota Lynx - Quanitra Hollingsworth 11 4 H
10 Connecticut Sun - Chante Black 15 4 H
11 Detroit Shock - Shavonte Zellous 25 13 2
12 Seattle Storm - Ashley Walker 4 0
13 L.A. Sparks - Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton 6 2
14 San Antonio Silver Stars - Megan Frazee 6 3
15 Minnesota Lynx - Rashanda McCants 11 3
19 Indiana Fever - Christina Wirth 5 1
25 Atlanta Dream - Shalee Lehning 16 2 H
#28 Josephine Owino, Kenya/Union University (Tennessee)/Washington 0 0 who was the last drafted player to hang on until the beginning of the season is now gone as is the one undrafted player who made it that far, Kristi Cirone, Illinois State/Connecticut 6 2.
Here's the complete Rookie Stat report, which I found AFTER doing all of the above! :( http://www.wnba.com/statistics/wplayer/Scoring.jsp?league=10&season=22009&conf=OVERALL&position=0&splitType=9splitScope=GAME&qualified=N&yearsExp=0&splitDD=All%20Teams
I do note that their rookie count is 22, rather than the 17 I have from the draft list. They add a couple of foreign players Anete Jekabsone-Zogota - CON, Chen Nan - CHI, Lauren Ervin, who was drafted last year, sat out the year with an ACL and has recently been released by CON, Britany Miller - DET, and Cirone, who I did mention above. They DON'T list the two foreigners in the Rookie of the Week story, though.
