The University of Oklahoma and Big 8 has lost one of its best ever...and one of the best people I've had the honor of meeting :(

OMG! I am just beside myself right now. When I woke up this morning and learned the news today, I just couldn't believe it. I was a soph. in high school when he was a senior at Booker T. and our po-dunk town scrimmaged his team during the preseason. (We got killed if you're wondering. BIG GRIN)
The man truly had the love of the Lord in his heart every day of his life. I never, ever saw him without a smile as big as Dallas; even while he was faced with losing his leg, b/c of this awful disease.
edit to add: As many of you know, I lost my mom this past Jan 27th due to a brain hemorrhage from falling on the ice during that terrible ice storm that hit Oklahoma this past winter. I can't help but think that mom was standing there beside St. Peter to welcome Wayman just as she did with any guest that ever came over to visit at our house. She's probably already driving him crazy telling him how much her youngest son idolized him and how big of a Sooner he is.
Sorry about all of that Wayman. Just smile (like you've always done) and nod your head. She'll soon run out of stories. [Big Grin]

When your Mom runs out of stories, I'm sure my Dad will take over.
The phrase, 'He's a better person than he is a player' was invented for Wayman.

I never had the privilege of beating Wayman, but I did have the pleasure of seeing him run my Buffs ragged back in the day when I attended both men's and women's games. They were double headers then and I usually stayed for the men's game.
Wayman smiled all the way through running us out of the gym. RIP, Wayman.
