Defense was a bit loose in the first half and we let d'Hondt take any shot she pleased...no one was challenging her much. She ended up with 22 points...but only 7 in the 2nd half.
Tech's defense tightened up and forced a number of turnovers in the 2nd half and held Pacific to 19 points. Perkins missed some breakaway layups...but made enough to make it count. The was a magical dish from Grant to Perkins under the basket that was too pretty for words. LaToya Thomas saw a lot of playing time and made the most of it with 7 pts and 9 boards. She brings so much passion and guts into the game but she's pretty patient on the offensive side...doesn't rush her shots. It was great to have 3 freshman on the court together...4 if we count in Clark.
Grant had her usual 9 assists and 10 points.
Pacific is a well coached team whose kids never gave up, they seemed to be enjoying the atmosphere and they continued to play hard, but Tech's defense was the difference again.
Looking forward to conference play....
