Jenny Craig Pavillion--San Diego 8.6 second left

San Diego led 61-60, but Nebraska had the ball in their hands and had charged back from 19 points down.

"Johansen drives across the time line...Clock running to 6,5,4...pass to Richards....for the win......YES! YES! YES! Margaret Richards wins it for Nebraska! What a comeback!"

The 5-9 junior from Louisville, Kentucky had 20 points and 11 rebound in a Cornhusker comeback on the coast, continuing her sparkling play in this season. Further proof of why Connie Yori's the head coach and I'm just writing about the exploit. After the last two years, I was all ready to wave goodbye to Richards. Appearently Connie Yori saw something in her I didn't and more importantly, Richards saw something in herself.

Also give love to Amanda Cleveland. She was big inside scoring 12 points and adding 2 key blocks as Nebraska went from 54-35 down to going up 60-59 with 21 seconds left. Alexa Johnson also added a nice double-double (15 points 11 rebounds in a 40 minute effort!)

Johnson and Johansen never left the floor in the ballgame, meaning they'll be a little lead-legged for tonight's clash with #17 Penn State, but I'll tell ya, after hearing last night effort, I'm not doubting this club.

And I can also say, its good to see Margaret Richards being player that we thought she'd be when she first came to campus.

Last night was a joyous funeral in San Diego. The heartless Huskers of last season are dead and buried.

About tonight's game: Penn State is a solid team with one weapon, Kelly Mazzante. One of the nation's best shooters, Mazzante is averaging over 20 a game again. But the knock on Mazzante is a matter of athleticism. Against quicker players, she's not as adept at getting her shot without help. If Nebraska continuing to sterling defensive play they showed against Cincinnati, were All-American Candidate Valerie King was held to a 0-for-14 performance from the field, UNL can bag their second ranked opponent this year.

And to think I said this was a sure loss back in the summer, its amazing what a new coach, and new attitude can do for a team.

I'll say it right now..Connie Yori is the coach of the year, period.

And I'll say this right now...Nebraska 66, Penn State 61

Ending the embarrassment one game at a time.

Congratulations to Nebraska for a great comeback. They have done amazing tings this year, particularly considering how thin they are. I hope they keep up their stellar play (except when they play us, of course.)

Nebraska's results so far this season are fantastic.

Regardless of the outcome of the game against Penn St or how they ultimately do in the conference games, if I lived in Nebraska, I'd go watch this team play. They had lots of excuses to just tank it and start over next year. This is an effort worth watching.

Kudos to everyone associate with the NU program! I think we all knew Connie Yori would be a great thing, but we are seeing some amazing and gutsy performances by these athletes. Personally I think Penn State is too much for NU, but I sure hope the Huskers give them a run for their money!

I disagree. Going 0-and-16 in league play nullifies the whole season. Win some league games, and take out Penn State last night.

Excuses are the tool of last season.

If Nebraska was able to put it together LAST season enough to beat an outstanding Kansas State team by 15 points in the Devaney Center, the chances of them going 0-16 THIS season are about zero, I would say.

Guess the main thing unanswered about CY is how she'll be able to recruit. She will be much missed in The Valley (but I'm also happy that Flan has gotten a chance at Creighton).
