Plenette Pierson scored 16 pts to lead all scorers, but only played 3 minutes in the 2nd half...she was the tournament MVP

great defensive effort, limiting Hawaii to 22% FG...Casey Jackson played stellar D and was everywhere...

Thought it was pretty impressive since Hawaii attempted 26 free throws to Tech's 7. The zebras got Greenwalt out in the first two or three minutes. Every post and forward had 3 or 4 fouls. Perkins and Ritchie were also tagged early. Didn't work because the bench (entire bench) played very well and contributed on defense.. held Hawaii to something like 27%.

Great job, Texas Tech. Hawaii can be a pretty good opponent when they are playing at home....or have been in years' past.

textom has mentioned on raiderpower the challenge presented by officials during tournaments in Hawaii. Auriemma, not so subtly, implied the same thing after UConn's 6 point win a few weeks ago.

Depth, depth, depth made its presence felt in this one. The freshmen are really stepping up.

Hawaii had 26 free throws to Tech's 7? That's almost unbelievable. It is even more amazing that Hawaii had 26 free throws and still only scored 40 points. Congratulations Texas Tech. I don't suppose the players got to have one more trip to the beach before flying home? I would think the beach would be more fun AFTER the games than before.

I think they were prepared for the lopsided calls and thank god they have some depth. Pierson and Greenwalt both had two fouls each within the first 6-7 min. of the game and Pierson got her fourth at the 17 min. mark of the second and sat the rest of the game.

I think I heard them say they were going to stay one more day and let them have some fun on the beach.

Whewww! That was a relaxing and exciting trip to take with the Lady Raiders! I still can't get over going from 81 degree temp to freezing here in Lubbock!

Yes, the Lady Raiders did get all of Sunday to hang out at the beach and shop up until 5:00 Hawaii time. Believe me, everyone of them took advantage and came back with SUPER tans...I on the other hand made it out to the beach only in the evening.

As for the Hawaii game, let me tell you when there is a 12 foul margin between the two teams, there has to be something up with the officiating. Hawaii was being just as physical as Texas Tech was if not more and yet the refs took Cisti Greenwalt out within 4 minutes of the start of the game. Us fans tried working the officials as much as possible and yes they did here us. It was actually kind of funny because they were laughing at what we were yelling. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif In this game though, the Lady Raiders truly looked like championship material. Defense was clamping down WITHOUT Cisti and Plenette in the game (foul trouble). Redshirt freshman Jametra Clark came off the bench huge with a career high 8 points and 6 rebounds to relieve Pierson.

Well, I better get to bed, cause on the flight back to Houston and Lubbock I got 0 sleep! That's about the only bad thing that happened over the past 5 days and the Lady Raiders did not disappoint! Go Tech!
