Well, it stinks, but OU's 25 game home court winstreak ended today to SMU. They lost by 3.
25 turnovers by OU is the story of the game.
And, Steph Simon didn't play due to a knee injury. I don't know the extent or the details...hopefully it's not those evil 3 letters. Frosh Laura Andrews started in her place and had a good game with 10 pts/8 boards.

I went back and listened to the pre-game show off of the archive. Simon injured her knee in practice. Not serious. Just kept her out as precautionary matter.
Sorry about the streak ending.

During a Fast Break Club meeting prior to the game, Bo Overton stated Simon would out for 2 to 3 weeks. If Laura Andrews plays as well in coming games as she did today, she will most likely continue as the starter. Chelsi Welch had a great game today and hopefully this was her break out game.

Stephanie was suited up, I heard her knee from one person and her ankle from another....and also heard she was out 2 - 3 weeks.
Chelsi Welch played outstanding; Laura Andrews played really well most of the time. Now, where in the heck was Mariaaaaaaaa, she ended the first half with 2 points. It looked as though she were going to get going in the 2nd half, and then she disappeared again.
I recall watching a game where the opposing team was within 2/3 points and it was Stephanie Simon's passes into the post that busted it back open.
We sure can't afford any more frontcourt player injuries, heck, can't afford any in the backcourt either.
SMU's Kim Walter, the team's second-leading scorer, left the game in the first half with a dislocated knee.
This girl was in some MAJOR pain, was coming out of the huddle after a time out and fell on the floor. The game was stopped for about five minutes; they cut the brace off her other leg, I think.......and then went and took the brace Caton Hill had on due to she and Erin had their surgeries this week, to put on Walter. Walter never did return to the bench.

(SMU's) Kim Walter's injury had all the earmarks of an ACL blowout. Walking across the floor when suddenly she dropped like a marionette with the strings cut.
I think that this injury actually had a more adverse effect on the Sooners. SMU came out of that timeout very energized, while OU looked even more sluggish than they had before.
Laura Andrews looked pretty good, as did Beky Preston. Of course what we don't know and can't see, are all the little things that they are supposed to be doing and maybe aren't.
I think this was a case of just one too many starters missing. Only one starter saw evern a minute of playing time last year, and only one other starter was even on the bench!
And those who have been saying all along that the turnovers were going to kill us eventually were proven right today.
