I don't see Koehn's name in the box score? Hope she's OK.

ANyhow, balanced scoring with 5 in double figures. Man, this group is versatile. Wecker led the assist category with 9 and Ohlde had 6 to go with her 12 boards and 16 pts. Mahoney led in scoring with 20.
They had 25 assists on 34 field goals. Wow.

Koehn, averaging 15.7 points, injured her ankle in practice earlier this week. Patterson said she could have played, but she wanted to play it safe.

Thanks for the report and kind words Jennifer. K-State did win 92-75 v Western Michigan.

This is the first time anyone came out and played us in a variation of a zone all game long. It was pretty much a triangle and two with the focus on Wecker and Mahoney. As Coach Patterson said, if you play a zone against this team you are playing with a wild fire even without Laurie Koehn. KSU was 15-24 from behind the arc. One really fun and satisfying thing for me was to see Amy Dutmer, a junior forward who had attempted two three point shots in her career, get rewarded for hours and hours of practice. She hit her first three of her career tonight and then hit three more. She said if they were going to leave me open with time to shoot I was going to shoot. She went 4-4 for 12 points, all career highs. Her stroke was pure and she drained them like it was the most normal thing in the world for her. She is in the best basketball shape of her life and playing with confidence on offense and defense. I particularly love it because my family lived in her home town of York Nebraska for seven years. It's great to see a York Duke do well.

Chelsea Domenico had career highs in points, field goals and three pointers. She was 4-9 behind the arc and 5-10 over all. she also had two assists and two steals with only one turnover. She always seems a little ragged to me, but then I look in the stats and she has the second best assist to T.O. average in the big 12 (2.9) in spite of the fact that we have been playing some decent agressive teams.

It was a bummer to see Laurie Koehn sit this one out. She had started all 44 games of her career up to this point. She seemed to be walking OK but she did not run or do any moves at all during warm-ups etc. I hope all is well with her soon and I expect it will be. We don't play again until at Northern Illinois on December 28th. Then we play Western Illinois on January 3rd. Even if she has to take it easy for those games we should be OK. (I hope) We have Iowa on ESPN2 on January 5th in a Big 10 challenge game at Bramlage.

No matter how much it annoys anyone else to see Koehn on the bench I know it annoys Laurie Koehn more. That woman loves to play.

The attendence was 6,648

I talked to my daughter late last evening and they had been to the game. My daughter and her family moved back to Manhattan about a week and a half ago (Hurrah...my baby granddaughter is within reasonable driving distance) and couldn't pass up the chance to go support the Purple People. She too was very impressed with Amy Dutmer's game and proud to claim her as a fellow native Nebraskan. Good job Amy and best wishes for continued success and more PT.
