Help me out here Horns: I just saw the seat backs with a GREAT big G on them at courtside - it was during the Gail interview as they went to the locker room at the half and didn't see which side of the court this was on.
Is there something other than GG that these big honkin seat back G's stand for?

That "G" is Gatorade's new marketing campaign. It is like the seats at Tech having caps that say Coca-Cola.

Yes, Texas has been making it a game, maybe more game than Oklahoma wants to see.

I was going to post "what an uninspired game of basketball by UT" - but I'm glad I resisted - they certainly found it in the last minutes. OU worries me when they play like this and UT shows why they are still ranked. Nash has played great in the waning minutes.

Kudos to the Longhorns playing much tougher in the 2nd half....guess they forgot to set those clocks an hour ahead.

UT shows why they are still ranked.
Does that mean Tech should be ranked? Tech lost by the same margin on Wednesday to OU on OU's home court.
Good effort by UT to not give up and close the margin, but I don't think it showed why they should still be ranked.
Wins in Feb over Baylor and Iowa State is why they are ranked.

JIM VERTUNO, AP Sports Writer - Courtney Paris added 16 points for the Sooners, but had just six rebounds to miss her 124th career double-double in 130 games.
My gosh, can't these guys think of ANYTHING else to write? I expect we've seen something like this for most of the last four years. They should give a writing award for a sports reporter who can write about the game and not mention the streak or now the non streak. Yes, it's news, but it's still lazy writing to make it an every game deal. My opinion, anyway.
Oh, and JV was two for two! Could have used his words to say that instead! ;)
Shhh, he DID say this, sorry Jim. Another basket by Paris and a 3-pointer by Jenny Vining made it 55-28 with just under 14 minutes left.

its UT beating Tech by 30 points in Austin for the real reason we are ranked:rotflol:

Dblt - if you can convince the powers that be to rank a 16-14 team - more power to you

I don't care if Texas is ranked or not ranked right now. I'd like to see the team play during the tournament like they played the last 15 minutes of the game today, win some games this week and go into the NCAA tournament with momentum. Excellent game for Ashley Lindsey. A bright spot for me today was Ashely Gayle's play on the defensive end in the second half.

Dblt - if you can convince the powers that be to rank a 16-14 team - more power to you I never said Tech should be ranked. I asked you.
You said UT was still ranked because they came from trailing OU by 27 to only lose by 12. That is silly. If you thought playing OU within 12 at home was good enough, then I wondered if you thought that Tech should be ranked.
Longhorns were ranked because they beat Tennessee, Arizona St and Georgia Tech in non conference and then they beat Baylor and Iowa State in conference to stay ranked.
Skater-UT shouldn't be ranked because they have 10 losses including those to unranked San Diego State, Purdue, Tech and Oklahoma State and partially ranked Kansas State. They deserve credit for winning at ISU but that was by 3 points. But as poorly as they've played at times, if they should still be ranked it shouldn't be as high as 16. Touting a big win against Texas Tech is not exactly a strong point in your favor.

Before everyone gets too excited about the comeback, let's try to remember that it came against the reserves. Abi, Jenny, Carlee, Ny, and Hartman were on the floor, and they simply didn't handle the pressure that Texas put on. The comeback ended when they put the starters back in.
I don't know how many teams the Big Twelve is likely to get into the tournament, probably about one too few. When you examine a team's record against the Big Twelve, they may not look all that good. But, the seventh place and eighth place teams in the Big Twelve would finish in the top four of the Big Ten and might well win the Mountain West.

I've already considered who was on the floor when. And I'm still pleased with Texas' effort and execution in the last part of the game. The team can beat a lot of other teams playing that way. I didn't expect Texas to win today and wouldn't expect the Longhorns to beat OU in the tournament.

I agree, carolann. I thought Texas was playing with a lot more intensity for that period than they had shown in the first half.

Why doesn't Cortillo play more and shoot more? Injury? She has a nice outside shot but you hardly ever see her take it.

I noticed that she had tape on one of her hands and at least one time during the game she seemed to grimace in pain. I don't know if it's her shooting hand or not.
Speaking of Cortillo, I loved the tape of her and CP mugging for the camera before the game.

Does anyone know what the technical was about at the end of the first half? I feel like my section was the only one that was screaming that the clock had stopped at about 1 minute 22 seconds left. Play continued on for about 10 seconds. OU had the ball. The whistle blew. And the Texas bench was t'd up. I watched a replay of the game on FOX later that evening, and the announcers had nothing to add, but I saw the clock stop again. Anybody else have any insight?
Congratulations OU. Even without Hand, you are a strong contender for the whole enchilada. What I really noted was how much your TEAM has improved over last year. And I loved how CP came over and hugged Ashley Lindsey after the game. OU tends to bring out the best in Lindsey. I've loved watching her develop over the years. She is a true college athlete. And its nice to see her competitors acknowledge it. Good Luck the rest of the way. Keep representing the conference so well in play and character.

I don't have any more information that what you already mentioned from the TV broadcast.
I HOPE Goestenkors got the technical for complaining about poor officiating. If she did, good for her. Texas got hosed on some turnover calls early in the game. More coaches need to stand up and say something about the inconsistent officiating.

Box score shows it was a technical on the bench. I know know what the standard way of reporting technicals is but I would assume had it been on the head coach or a player, it would not have been noted as "on the bench"
The bench can get a technical for several reasons as I understand it but I would assume that a person who couldn't be identified but who the ref was sure was on the bench (unlikely?) or a non-player said something that the refs thought deserved a technical.

The announcers talked liked it was a "planned" technical or maybe a tactical move by Gail, and she got the technical herself from what I understood.
Gail was able to "make her point", OU missed the free throw and OU had the ball anyway so there was no true change in possession.

Swok has got the right of it. She used the opportunity to jaw (mostly politely, it looked like) with one of the refs. It cost them very little.
