Damn the torpedos! Full speed ahead! Tennesee can be beaten and the Longhorns can do it. GO BIG 12!!

Texas's current RPI is 177. That's 6 worse than Cal State Fullerton! We all know rpi is silly at this stage of the year and the above fact proves it. BUT it would be a mighty boost to the Big 12 rpi, as well as the Longhorn's, if they pull off the upset.

I was not surprised that the Vols demolished Stanford as they did. Kansas State did NOT have a good game that night and only a part of it was good play from the Cardinal. (singular no less, See even I can get it right sometimes) The team came off a tough game with the Temple Owls (OWL?) the prior night while the Cardinal had a easy game. There were many intangibles in that game that leaned to Stanford yet the game was in serious doubt into the last minute. Give Stanford credit, they shot very well and won the game with solid play. I just did not think they were in any way a clear favorite over K-State and they have shown a vulnerabilty to other teams on ocassion this year. All those things considered I don't see the Vol's win over the Cardinal as proof that the Longhorns are totaly outclassed.

Do I think the Vols will win? Yes I do, but I will not be surprised to see Texas upset them. I think a lot of those intangibles are in Texas's favor for the game. On the other hand I can hear Chipper saying something like "since when is "intangible" playing for Texas and what is her scoring average?"

My UT still has to play that other UT and that still is a tall order, but by no means an impossible one.

GO Longhorns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go Texas! I truly believe that you can beat them. After what I saw by the Vols against USC, I'm surprised Tenn. has lost only one game.

Saturday's contest is (as usual) the most important non-conference game on the Longhorn schedule. Sure, there are games to be played against LSU and Ohio State, but make no mistake - Tennessee is the standard and the target.

In any other year, this would be just another stop on the murderer's row that the Vols call a schedule. But I think the Vols will roll into Austin this weekend with some payback in mind.

This year's edition of the Vols strikes me as being better, having better chemistry, and more motivated than last year's group. I guess I'm basing that opinion mainly on the way they destroyed La Tech in Ruston. I think there is a potential for that result to happen again in Austin this weekend if we're not on our best game.

Here are my keys for Longhorn success this weekend:

1) Be aggressive. Attack the pressure, don't shrink from it. And apply some pressure of our own.

2) Posts, stay out of foul trouble (esp. Stacy). This, of course, creates a delicate balancing act with objective #1 above.

3) Hit free throws. We can't afford another BYU boondoggle from the line and expect to win.

4) Be warriors on the boards. Stacy, Annissa, et. al, have shown this ability many times in the past.

My gut tells me that Tennessee will win. They are too tall and deep in the post and too experienced on the perimeter. But you never know.

My head says Tennessee by 12.
My heart says Texas by 2 (in double overtime). http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif
