I've heard that UW-Green Bay has become a formidable opponent,
here's the scoop from: http://www.womenscollegehoops.com/picks12.1112.02.htm

Kansas State at UW-Green Bay
Has upset written all over it as potent, but still young KSU better keep their eyes on upset minded Phoenix who have won six in a row and make a living off of beating the "big boys." Ohlde and Wecker can do a lot, but assuming Phoenix are themselves, Laurie will need to step up too. Watch out, KSU 70-68.

They stand at 6-1 and beat TCU on their home court. They've also beaten Miami (FL) who was pretty good last year, not familiar with their team this year. Though I don't understand
"beating the big boys"....they've played Wisconsin, Ohio State, Oregon, SE Missouri State, Illinois.....which one of these teams are they calling "big boys"? Wisconsin is down, Illnois is terrible, IMO (and they lost to them), SE MO ST...not a big boy,
Oregon, not big boy status, IMO....and I'm not familiar with Ohio State at all.

Well, they've beaten Oregon (RPI 37), TCU at TCU (RPI 33) and Ohio State (RPI 46). And Wisconsin USED to be a "big boy." They have the 33rd spot in the Coaches' poll, and the 28th spot in the AP poll, and their current RPI is 14. So let's just say they shouldn't be underestimated. Remember, DePaul also lost to Illinois (and to North Carolina), and they just knocked off Notre Dame.

Illinois may be much improved this year. The team has only one loss and that was by 2 points to Arizona on the road. Perhaps womens college hoops is talking about teams from the 'major' conferences with the term 'big boys'. Wisconsin Green Bay is a good team, no doubt about it. While this is a 'should win' for Kansas State, the Wildcats have to be prepared to play a focused game.

Wins tonight by KSU over Wisconsin Green Bay and Colorado over Colorado St will help boost our conference RPI. Losses will further the argument that the Big 12 is weak this year and that even the top teams are overated.

K-State is up by 3 at the half 42-39. Wecker has 17 points and eight rebounds. They are calling this game VERY tight. Mahoney has 3 fouls and Ohlde and Wecker have two each. According to the announcer KSU is hardly even guarding players under the basket for fear of having another foul called.

K-State started out very well and was getting a lot of lay-ups but that has been somewhat shut off. KSU is something like 4-17 from the arc.

Coach Patterson is NOT happy with the officiating but is keeping her cool reasonably well. The place seats less that 2,000 and is packed and LOUD.
