Yep, KU's inexperience caught up to them against a tough team:
"Crystal Kemp had 15 points and eight rebounds, but Kansas University’s women’s basketball squad couldn’t compete with Wichita State, losing 84-58 on Wednesday night at O’Shaughnessy Hall.
The Shockers outrebounded the Jayhawks, 44-32, and forced 21 turnovers, including eight from sophomore Blair Waltz. She finished with just two points on 1-for-6 shooting.
Both teams shot 38 percent from the floor in the first half, but the Shockers made 11 of 13 free throws while the Jayhawks never went to the line, and WSU (5-2) led 42-26 at halftime.
Kansas’ shooting got worse in the second half. The Jayhawks hit only eight of 25 second-half shots, including one of seven from behind the three-point arc. Kansas finished having hit 35 percent of its field goals.
Erica Hallman added 13 and Tamara Ransburg 11 for Kansas (4-2), which lost its second straight game after four consecutive wins. The Jayhawks still need only one more win to equal last season’s total."

Mizzou shot 55% from the floor, 7-10 from beyond the arc. Lozier was 5-5 from 3.

Interesting. Wasn't Waltz rated as the top player in Kansas as a high school senior? So was Wecker the year she came out - yet they've taken two completely different paths in their collegiate careers.

Yeah, Waltz really hasn't shown any amount of consistency over the last two years. To be fair, she had some injuries her Freshman year and was playing backup. This year is her chance to show leadership and be consistent...something I don't think she's done. 8 turnovers? Inexcusable. I don't recall her being heralded as one of the better players in KS during high school but if that was true, you're right (so far) about her not living up to expectations. We shall see but I'm going to keep an eye on her. I haven't had a chance to go to all of the games but the ones I've been to, she hasn't impressed.
