I have a question....now I have traveled to away games for Tech but they were all non conference games so i am not sure if this applies to conf games too.

When we got tickets for away games we tried going through the Tech ticket office but they told us that we would have to go through the other school's ticket office. Now, like i said, these were all non conf games. Does the host school allot any tickets to the visiting fans cause I noticed that at the Tech home games, there are a few away fans that sit behind their team's bench.

The reason I was asking is because Tech is not going to be doing their normal charters for just this season. I am now going to school in Dallas and am planning on going to the Tech-Baylor game in Waco and possibly the Tech-OU game in norman and Tech-UT game in Austin. Have you travelers ever gotten tickets through your ticket office?

To BU fans...do you happen to know which section is behind the visiting bench?

Thanks for all the help yall!

My away travel experience has been more following the men's teams, but I assume the women's is pretty much the same. Each visiting team is given an allotment of 25 or so tickets behind the visitor's bench. Those tickets are used first for relatives, guests, etc. of the players. If there are any left over, they would be available to fans. At OU, those tickets are administered by the basketball office, not by the ticket office - I imagine it is the same most places (which is why your ticket office wouldn't be able to help you).

I think that this is one area in which us Hoopscoopers could help each other - and have a chance to meet face to face!

RP,

Up until last year, you could walk up and buy the tickets on game day. Last year, I called the tickets through BU and they were on the end, behind the basket, near the Tech bench. I saw Tech people scattered throughout. The only section of people behind the bench looked like the Charter people and VIP, parents, etc.

I've bought my tickets from the host school or from the Texas Women's Basketball Office. Texas always has tickets to sell foundation members (also known as donors). I'm a low dollar donor though I moved up a slot this year. The seats aren't necessarily good seats. I've never been right behind the Texas bench. Buying from Texas, I do sit with other Texas fans.

RP, how many tickets do you need for the BU game?

On bus trips I've taken with OU, the tickets are usually reserved through the women's basketball office with the school we are visiting......

sometimes that works out, sometimes it does not. I think it has more to do with how many season ticket holders a team has sold for their home court....when we travelled to Southwest Missouri State for a game, they had 25 seats available behind the bench, which meant that parents, etc. The seats we obtained through OU were in the nose-bleeder section.....and we managed to get a bit better tickets, though we were behind the "bear-heads" and right beside the band..... http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/frown.gif

I think Baylor does the same thing, though OU must have had about 150 fans in addition to those in the alloted seats behind the bench. I heard that OU players had 4 passes, but only 2 of those could have been used behind the bench.......and, those tickets we got, we heard they usually give them away for free http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/frown.gif

Now, at SMU, where OU fans outnumbered SMU fans, we sat courtside, because they don't have many season tickets sold.....
At Oklahoma State, you can buy reserved or GA.....though the last two years, I've gone on the bus trip, who only buys GA, not sure if reserved are still available or not.

Some folks mentioned to me that for the OU/Tennessee game, they got better tickets by buying them directly from Tennessee... rather than getting them from OU's allotment.

The NCAA's must work differently, we sure had great seats for the Final Four from OU's allotment http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

My suggestion would be to get a fan of the prospective school to buy the tickets for you, though you might be sitting amongst the home team's fans, they will probably be better tickets.

I have always had good luck when I called the ticket office and requested a seat near the visitor's section. They usually have some unsold seats in adjacent sections, and often in the lower levels. Well worth the price of a long-distance call!

OU usually has enough tickets for the folks who take the booster club bus, but if you're driving to the game on your own then I would recommend calling the ticket office of your opponent.
